Mike's gonna regret not getting up early; we get the divine Ms. King and "It's Too Late" in the No. 3 slot.

From "Misty Mountain Hop" to Macca's "Another Day" -- talk about yer trainwreck segue!

I notice that Rob began with Stormy Monday -- is it one in NYC?

Something for everyone today: Proxy Geoff BOS to "Mercy Mercy Me," and proxy Rod BOS to "Layla."  (Did I get those right?)  Alicat and Mshray and RGMike and Beej, I can't guess what you all would have voted for (though I'd bet Freda P for Mike), but you would have dug this set.

I'd prefer not to see Smokey's big hoo-hah.  I didn't even know he had one.

Not so much stormy this Monday here as chilly.  Was a largely overcast weekend, though.

actually, proxy Rod for Zep.  I think we've all heard "Layla" a few too many times.

OMG! McGuinnes Flint, "When I'm Dead & Gone". BOS for obscurity alone.

Thanks for ID'ing the artist.  It sounds like Buckingham-Nicks in the test tube.

Good call.  Stick around for 1970 on the Drive!

Gallagher & Lyle:  wrote a lot of hits, including (iirc) Somewhere in the Night for Barry Manilow/Helen Reddy.

Gallagher & Lyle, eh?  I only know one other song of theirs -- a hideous thing called "Heart on My Sleeve" -- did they write anything else that I'd know?

"Somewhere in the Night" wasn't Kerr-Jennings?

Will be around for most of 1970, but have to bail early to leave for work.  Filling in at the Voice again.

oops, you may be right.

a quick Google shows G&L wrote "Breakaway", covered by Art Garfunkel. Lyle later teamed with Terry Britten for Tina T's "What's Love Got to Do with it?" and "We Don't Need Another Hero"

Allman Brothers - Stormy Monday
Carole King - It's Too Late
Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar
Elton John - Love Song
Freda Payne - Bring The Boys Home
Led Zeppelin - Misty Mountain Hop
Paul & Linda McCartney - Another Day
Marvin Gaye - Mercy, Mercy Me
Derek & The Dominos - Layla
McGuinness Flint - When I'm Dead and Gone

slight quibble: I don't think Linda got a credit on "Another Day", which preceded Ram.
