That's what I get for following Sheryl Crow's advice about beer-buzzes in the morning.

Dave's having an "out-of-body day" too. Hope that bodes well and not ill -- like some really off-the-wall bustout.

And with that spin, Translator just went from 5 out of 19 (26.2%, and thus not quite a Katrina), to 6 out of 20 (30.0%, and full-fledged status)

Still dig the tune tho'.

With the Cars (sounding a bit like Flash & the Pan, no?) we're officially paint-by-numbers.  Dave can save this set... or dig a deeper hole.

This will come as a shock, but Dave hasn't played "Dream Away" since Nov '04.  But it was a BIG ASS Katrina before that.

(and yet aother tune which I still dig despite it's one-time Katrina status)

I didn't recognize the song preceding the Flock.  Set could be a lot worse; I'm not complaining.  Except to say that some Midnight Star would be a nice change of game.

Yuck FOS.
How about Fagan the Nightfly - or was that '81?

"That's a nice ass for a Katrina".

BOS Crock o' Siegals, the song that made AOR realize New Wave wasn't so bad.

The slightly longer version of "I Ran" isn't going to help, is it Mike?

It's frequency is in the low 20's, so it's a guilty suspect if not an out & out Katrina.

The I Love Music community has more or less declared "Hold Me" the greatest song ever, next to "God Only Knows."  I find it a pleasant confection, worth an HM here.

Well, the Cars tune didn't do it, but now both "Words" & "Hold Me" have been in 7 out of the last 20 sets, 35%.  Furthermore, "Hold Me" is now 3 for the last 3.

But that was still a killer segue.

I don' wanna play the part of a statistic on a government chart.

Oh, yes.  That line reminds me of why I was singing it.  I heard a song on KFrOG while I was dressing by the police that had something about "I don't want to play that part", but it rhymed "part" with something else.  Anybody guess the song?  I can't remember it right now.

I think I'm with Mike here. Nothing new that I haven't heard before. (Although it kills me that by 1982 John Densmore was reduced to appearing on Square Pegs, cool show though it may have been.  Sodden thought: is SP out on DVD? It should be--they could get the entire run of the show on two DVDs, max.)

BOS #3, CSN "Southern Cross", another song that gets much more KFOG airplay than 10@10 airplay (only in my Db once, from 10/02) , but I still love it.

Which dorm was that?

When I was TA-ing Pop Culture History at UCSB, my discussion group one week declared overwhelmingly that Avalon was the best make-out album of the times.  Somewhat surprisingly, several female students said that if they were with a guy & he started playing Avalon, then they knew that he was actually going to make a move & not leave them frustrated(!).

Yes!  Heard it on the way back to my house after dropping off the kids and waiting to get picked up.  Here are the lines:
And I can only play that part
And sit and nurse my broken heart

So there you go.

That was Storey house, then the fanciest house on campus having recently been rebuilt after burning down.  And the girl was Corinne Gouveia.  Actually, her roommate was better looking, but had a known boyfriend.

Hey gang, I'm about out of here. Will still be in SF tomorrow am but probably not able to log in here, and then we're off across the pond to Blighty tomorrow afternoon, so this will likely be the last you hear from me for a couple weeks. Will be back online on June 5, although I may try to check in to see what I've missed if I can get a few minutes in an internet cafe or something. Hope you get lots of cool sets while I'm out and about.
