Dave's taking suggestions, but I betcha we can pretty much predict this one in advance. And yes, the Mother of All Katrinas is on his list, speaking of the Katrina Threshold.
-
I'll have to miss this one, kids -- 10:00 meeting. So keep copious notes!

last few desperate days to finish my portfolio for the credential program. I hope to listen in on headphones.
-
The one day I can freely listen...
-
Scissor Sisters "Take You Mama Out" to open, a nod to Mother's Day.
Then the 9-song KaBOOM special kicks in with ELP "Fanfare For The Common Man". Woo Hoo!!!!
Dude, it's Prog Classical Music.

Sometimes I wonder why we even schedule meetings. Meeting postponed for others convenience... :?

So, no one answered on the other thread, but is anyone planning to actually go down to Piers 30-32 tomorrow?

i'm SO there.
;)
tee-hee.

Wow, Prince - 1999!
So far this has NOT been a very predictable set. I'm giving BOS votes to each of the first 3 tunes.

Bob gave me the thumbs down. Said it was too late for the kids. I have been out without him way too much lately and might go to the Sharks Sunday night w/o the family. (guilt is setting in tho). Speaking of outings, you sounded potentially interested in Roger Waters, Oct 10. I need to sell my two tix in 202 row J I think. Let me know if you're interested. I'll still be there but way down in front. Big splurge on almost front row seats as a gift to Bob for his bday.

Just freakin' annoying sound effects and relentlessly monotonous drumming!

That sounds sort of like the 10-year-old who buys his mom a train set for her birthday. :D
Oh, and I'm out for Kaboom. Three different friends throwing three different parties tomorrow, none of them anywhere near the Embarcadero. That's what happens when the weather finally gets nice.
-
is this luce?
Don't you mean "KFOG-discovery-Luce"? Yes it is.
-
is this luce?
Yep. The set just took a turn south, but the first four songs totally rawked.

nee on naarden. but i was close a couple of days ago, my cousins live in almere. i'll make it one day. i want to go to the flower fields next week, though, before they disappear...i think they're in leiden. not sure, though.
the weather is beautiful! tank tops and flip-flops. we're supposed to have a thunderstorm tomorrow, which will be good, because it's awfully humid. but then more sunny skies.

BOS for Let It Roll. Not as good as classic Little Feat, but a good happy tune.

Some friends have a boat, so I'll be on the bay, directly under the explosions, cocktail in hand...
Kinda bummed about missing Los Lonely Boys, though.

Let me guess your thoughts on "Alright Now"...
I know that Dave has the LSJUMB version of this somewhere, he's used it for traffic beds.
-
"baby, i said, 'slow! slow! don't go so faaa-aast.'"
i think one of the sexiest lines ever. something about the way he sings it.

What are traffic beds? I'm sure you know that I'm as sick as can be of Alright Now. Really a terrible song.
-
nice to hear mr. isaak. haven't thought of this song in a long while, i'm happy to say. that means i haven't heard it, either.

Just to refresh y'all's memories, last year we didn't get a KaBOOM set, but rather got a soul patrol on KaBOOM Eve. But I have the setlists from 2002-4.
2003 was all Winwood when he was headlining.
2002 & 2004 focused more on lights & explosions, not party/feelgood.
So far the only repeat is the ELP, which dates back to the '02 set.
-
LSJUMB
huh?

What are traffic beds?
the background music behind the traffic reports.
-
LSJUMB
huh?
Leland Stanford Junior (pause) University Marching Band. My old gig.

The Stanford Band, which Dave & my brother were both in at the same tiime, prefers to call itself by the full, formal name of the Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band. This has a very nice iambic pentameter to it. Or LSJUMB for short.

The "party/feelgood" set was usually connected with WingDing, which KFOG didn't participate in this year (and last year Dave didn't do a Wing Ding set iirc). Sounds like I didn't really miss anything Earth-shattering.
