I can just feel it.
ETA: As usual, off by a couple years. As good a start as we can hope for, Georgie's Devil's Radio.

"god sips... god sips"
Oh wait, that can't be right.
But you're right -- it's probably downhill from here, unless a breakout awaits.

I was wondering what the rapid-speak bit at the end is, but it's pretty well buried by the "god sips" part.
-
Wow, Jeff Healey. BOS. I think a breakout?
-
is he a "confident man" or a "confidence man"?
either way, I dunno who this is.

Confidence, I'm pretty sure. Definitely Jeff Healey.
-
"completely different" from the previous song? Yes.
"completely different" from what Dave usually leans on in an '88 set?
Er... no.

Well then BOS -- if it's not a breakout, at least it's a rarity.
yikes, here's "Under the Katriny Way". Again.

Someday Dave should play "See The Light." That rocks, as I recall...

Er... no.
And speaking of the usual suspects--I offer the Church.
-
What I wouldn't give for "Alphabet St" or TTD's "If You Let Me Stay" (but I'll bet "Wishing Well" shows up).
-
BOS 2, Blind.
blind blind blind blind
blind
-
"Blind" indeed... Dave's blind to most of the black pop records of the late '80s.
-
Not a bustout, but I think Blind (is that a backward ref to Jeff Healy?) is gonna get my BOS vote for the day. Hoping something comes along to challenge, but not holding my proverbial breath.
-
ho hum
-
And it's a Talking Heads twin-spin--sort of. Did Tomtom Club put out anything in '88?

my thoughts exactly (even the healey comment).
-
ho hum
With reference to which song is your ho humming?
-
BOS to Jerry Harrison, "Rev It Up", although I wish Dave'd play "Man With A Gun" instead someday. This is not a Katrina but certainly a Usual Suspect

everything before Talking Heads (together & solo).

if only!
yikes again... "Katrinas are Burning".
Zzzzzzzzz. And I loved this song at the time.

As requested.

Dave musta got a Prince GH set for Xmas.
-

I hear black people!
it's Haley Joel Mshray!
BTW didya catch that Lockerbie/Iraq airliner mashup? What the critics of Munich would call "moral relativism", and what I call brilliant.
-

Now run and tell yo' mama 'bout DAT!

Yes, brilliant, I loved it.
-
Dang, not that "Finest Work Song"esque song again...
-
didn't we hear this REM last time, and comment on its similarity to "Finest Work Song"?
-
ooh! one of my fav r.e.m. songs!
-
didn't we hear this REM last time, and comment on its similarity to "Finest Work Song"?
but, this is not the finest work song!
:)

"FWS" JINX!
and now Ms Chapman. Not the mother of all Katrinas, just the nappy-headed sister.

I'd have loved Michael Stipe so much more if he'd titled that one "Second Finest Work Song."

Well, if ya wanna look, the setlist from 2/13 (our last 88 visit) is here:

I knew there was something else not to like about this Jose guy--he votes for goddamn Crowded House!!!
No wonder Dave is warm for his form.

Well, I'd say that "Balloon Man" roughly equals "Alphabet St", breakout-wise. Minus 10 points to Dave for repeating the REM.
See? no 7 pages today!

ha! you guys have me cracking up this morning. i loved mike's, "Not the mother of all Katrinas, just the nappy-headed sister," too!!

I was worried about saying that.
So Dave's "a Prince fan since 1979". Unfortunately, he's only been playing post-"Raspberry Beret" Prince songs on 10@10 since, uh, January.
