That Fawn Hall ref was a dead giveaway.

LOL!  I figured we were in for late '80s/early '90s today.  Didn't we do '87 recently?

And "Sign o' the Times" too, so I don't expect a breakout nearly as good as that. But hope springs eternal.

That was Jan 24, so it's been just about month. Seems like yesterday.

Y'know, I don't know the name of that guitar pice we just heard or who does it. But, I do know one thing: hearing it once or twice is enough for me.

In other news: I love the way Canadians say "out".

it's "always with you, always with me" by joe satriani. couldn't walk into a guitar shop at the time without some wankhole playing it on a marshall.

that was indeed '87...  as was "When Smokey Sings", "I Knew You Were Waiting"...

I'll VHM U2 just 'cause it is one of the great songs.  Love the bluegrass cover version by Dale Ann Bradley.

So will Dave "kick off" the N.O. Weekend with a N'awlins set tomorrow? Or will he save it for Fat Tuesday?

BOS2 "Alex Chilton". Tho' I've mondegreened it as "children by the millions sleep with Alex Chilton"

"wankhole" is the operative word here.

Dave's IM status sez "ANYBODY wanna hear the FULL version of 'The Ballad of Jim & Tammy' "

I told him I'd be OK with it and asked him what the verdict was and he said "next time...maybe."

I'll wager you're the only one here who's heard the whole LP.  Song's not terrible, just egregiously overplayed by Dave.  And here's Mr Cray bragging about what a strong persuader he is. Showoff.

Dave's all flirtin' with a guy named Jose. He's definitely got a thing for the the Latin men. Mebbe next time we email or call we should use a Spanish name.

Well, except me: I shall be the masked crusader for the downtrodden 80's music & Sir Mix-A-Lot fan! I am- EL BEEJO!!

2/23/06 - Thursday!  Great tunes from...1987!!

REM - Finest Work Song
Fabulous Thunderbirds - Stand Back
Georgia Satellites - Battleship Chains (B-O-S!!)
Love & Rockets - No New Tales to Tell
Joe Satriani - Always With Me, Always With You
U2 - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
The Replacements - Alex Chilton
John Mellencamp - Paper in Fire
Robbie Nevil - C'est La Vie
Robert Cray - Right Next Door
BONUS TRACK:  X - 4th of July

Wow, good bonus track. Sorry I didn't stay tuned in. Again the best song of the set (or maybe second best after Alex Chilton) was the bonus track.
