'Nuff said. Crossing fingers.
Although I'd settle for 70 or 71.
-
And it's a year of mystery--so I'm thinking it's--1970? Nice Zep TOTHC--Rod will be well pleased.

Should be 1969.
-
Our time has indeed come! Woo Hoo '69!
-

Should be 1969.
Pretty sure. But it could be '68. I'd have to look it up. I think both 1 and 2 came out in '69.

Yep, AMG confirms that's the year. And since it was released on January 12 of that year, I suppose the chance of it charting all the way into 1970 isn't so great.
-
BOS - Joni Mitchell (one of my all time favorites)
BTW, I confirmed with Dave on phone... year is 1969.
-
I took some brown acid in 1984 and you know what? It WAS terrible! Some good advice never goes outta style, y'know?
-
look out for the brown acid, man! VHM Joni, woke up, it was a Chelsea Clinton, and the first thing that I heard...
-
BOS Todd & Nazz, opening my eyes. Quite the druggy set so far.
-
HM "Open My Eyes" and I wanna say Todd Rundgren- but I'm probably wrong.
-
And here's my first BOS of the morning: NAZZ!
I can't see a thing to open my eyes....
(And a strong VHM to both of the first two tunes.)
-
OOO! I was half right. Yeah, The Nazz! That's it...
-
Sounds great. I'm so ill but sitting groggily at my desk.
-
BOS2 RB Greaves, "Take a Letter Maria", a GREAT f--ing single. Why did this man not have a career?

ditto BOS. Love this.

Urth already provided the release date for I, and for II it was Oct, 22, 1969. In fact their first IV albums came out in just under 34 months. Unglaublich!

Sorry you're ailin--maybe having that Aerosmith show postponed is a blessing in disguise?
BOS2 R. B. Greaves, Take a Letter, Maria. Wotta slime. Wife leaves him and next thing ya know, he's hitting on his secretary.
-
BOS for Spirit. The Random Numbers used to play this. I did a pretty passable version of the guitar solo.

Slime? His wife left HIM -- because he was tryin' to make some bread and she got bored and started foolin' around. Tit fer tat, I'd say.

Not really. I'm bummed. If the show was on, I'd be home sleeping and getting ready!
Gonna take off early. Just waiting on a few calls.
-
Now this is the good Moodies. BOS #whatever for "Never Comes The Day".
-
VHM Moodies. Quite lovely.
-
RINGO!!!!
-
BOS3 Ringo Beatle in an octopussy's garden.
-
BOS3 (or maybe 4)--Ringo and the boyz (yay!), Octopus's Garden!
One of the Beatles' great kids songs!!
-
BOS Elvis
-
BOS4 Elvis, one of the greatest pop singles of all time.
-
BOS3 Ringo Beatle in an octopussy's garden.
Twas fabuluss
-
I remember spreading out some of the "clues" about Paul McCartney, including Abbey Road album cover, on my parents bed, then trying to figure out if he was still alive...

I'm amazed that Capitol, in all it's reissue mania, never put together a Beatles-for-kids package.

What else would you include? My kids love "Yellow Subamrine" & "Help", for instance.

BOS4 Elvis, one of the greatest pop singles of all time.
Agreed. Am realizing that in 69, the trumpet was a hip instrument--featured prominently in both the RB Greaves and Elvis tunes, and probably lots of others. What year did Herb Alpert hit?
And while I'm here, VVHM to Undun--Randy Bachman takes his jazzy side for an early spin on the charts.
-
anyone else think the arrangement on this Guess Who track presages the 'fake jazz' of BTO that Razsty loved so much?
ETA: I guess Urth already thought so.

I hear ya. Very Blue Collar...Though this song is a lot better. An excellent vocal performance, I'd say.

Piggies? Rocky Raccoon? "Good Night" would make a nice album-closer.

Hey Rich, quick make 8 more posts, I wanna see what happens to your profile when you hit 100.
ETA: btw, am I the only one who likes to see the words 'Heavy Duty' over Scarlett's bosom?
-
Not counting, but this sure seems like a set-closer.

"Oblidee Oblida", maybe?
"Piggies"? (the kids may not 'get' the lyrics until they're older- but it's a fun song)
"Happiness Is a Warm G..." No, wait...
"Birthday"?
-
damn, lost the stream -- guess the player couldn't take all that Fake Jazz
-
PIGGIE JINX!
-

the Supes are ALWAYS Dave's '69 set-closer.

Someday you & the stream will be together...
-
ETA: btw, am I the only one who likes to see the words 'Heavy Duty' over Scarlett's bosom?
I pretty much like seeing anything over Scarlett's bosom. Unless it obstructs my view of said bosom.

Oh-Bla-Di -- talk about lyrics the kids won't "get" til they're older! "Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face"?
-
"Take a Letter" -- "a record very much misunderstood in its time"? wha?
-

Mark, if you EVER change your avatar, there will be much sadness among the villagers around here.

Scarlett's new flick opens today: A Good Woman, an updated version of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windemere's Fan. Scarlett plays the Lady W character, I think. Helen Hunt's in it too.

Oh, I dunno- that may not phase 'em at all in this day & age...

sticking around for the Bonus. this new Aqualung tune ("Left Behind") is a pretty dead-on U2 imitation, no?

I thought it was a Coldplay clone....
-
I just got an email from a contact named Fred Lee. His company email convention is first initial + last name, so his email address is 'flee'
Thought that was funny.

no, that was their previous single
Coldplay are "the new U2", anyway, aren't they? At least Bono would never name his kid Apple...
-
Annalisa's question: "a famous political couple named their daughter after one of the songs in today's set. Name the couple."
I shudder to think what the dimbulb Fogheads are gonna come up with as an answer...
OMG! first caller got it right -- and she picked Taj Mahal as the bonus! "Take a Giant Step". I can't remember the last time I heard this on the radio.
-
We go to overtime & once again Annalisa comes up with the overall BOS: Taj Mahal, "Take a Giant Step"
-
BOS2 RB Greaves, "Take a Letter Maria", a GREAT f--ing single. Why did this man not have a career?
Can't answer that, but did you ever notice that the opening guitar strums are perfectly copied by Joni Mitchell on "Help Me"?

As you may know, Ronald Bertram Aloysius Greaves was a nephew of Sam Cooke (and half Seminole Indian to boot). And he was hailed at the time as "the next Sam Cooke" by many critics including Mr Xgau. One other hit (a version of "Always Something There to Remind Me") and then oblivion.

I wonder if anyone ever tried to find the person/people who brought the brown acid, and ask them what they thought of their place in history.
-
The replay kicked of with '69, so even tho' I got up at 7:30 Ionly got to hear "Suspicious Minds" and on. Did anybody archive this or the 1985 set? 85 was next but before I could get my tape cued up wife & kids ambushed me & I missed it.

Not I, man. I was dead to the world, didn't get up til just after Freebird started, so those two are lost in the ether. Have to console yourself with '76, which appears to be the final set, since 91 is up next.
