Did anyone notice the clip that Dave slipped in between Don (or whoever) announcing today's year and the beginning of the Roxy tune? It was those huge multilayered synth chords that movie theaters would play before the film to demo their Dolby or THX 1180 sound system. I can't hear that without marvelling at how great it sounds.

Percy?  do ya mean Robert Plant, and if so, why?  My BOS goes to "Save It for Later", though I suppose it's pretty thoroughly Katrinafied now.  HM for "The Main Thing" too.

It's the THX logo theme -- don't mention Dolby in the same breath or George Lucas will sue you.  Didn't he sue some rapper for sampling it?

I'd swear we've had this conversation, but "Percy" is his nickname; "Percy" is also Brit slang for penis, and, well, there's a reason they call it "cock rock". LOL!

BOS2 Dazz Band -- "Let it Whip"! is this a breakout? I know I always say Dave should segue this with Steve Miller's "Abracadabra" (same cheezy synthesized "whip" sound effects).

Who's this R&B tune we're hearing? I hear hints of Prince (I'm a poet that don't know it) but it sounds more like one of his production jobs than his actual purpleness. A bustout, in any case. And probably my BOS.

I actually had to explain this to Irish Greg once about 3 years ago.  they did a phone interview wherein Plant was quoting someone who addressed him as Percy & IG asked about it. Plant declined to comment & said "You'll have to get someone else to tell you".  So I called in & did so.

As I recall sometime just previous to that IG had asked who Neal Peart was, so I when I called in I asked if he might need to go back Producer's School and get recertified if he really didn't know either of those things.

Someone once complained quite loudly that the song was sexist/misogynistic. I thought it was Gaz but I could be wrong.

Aaaack! "Rosanna (Arquette)".  Rock stars who write songs about their actress girlfriends: wrong, wrong, wrong.

I queried DM on this--it was Let it Whip by the Dazz Band. Which I remember by name but damned if I could recall the song. Really sounded great in any case.

At least Peter Gabriel didn't mention her by name when writing the Us album about his adventures in psychotherapy.

Cleveland band with a strict Motown contract.  Which is why they broke up.  (that's one of the things you learn at the R 'n' R HOF).

"strict" meaning morally?  business-wise?  I only ask 'cause I remember how Motown suddenly dumped DeBarge, who were their hottest young act at the time.  And that was about the "morals" clause.

BOS2 Sparks, I Predict.

Btw, does anyone else think that Black Coffee in Bed would be a much stronger song if they didn't repeat the chorus fifteen times at the end of the song? Honest, that song could have been edited by a good two minutes and not lost a thing.

and VHM E.T.  -- if he could've seen Drew B without her bra the other night, he'd definitely "phone home".

Ahh.  Reasons to be cheerful, part 3.  Though that picture doesn't do too much for me.

Damn, "Town Called Malice" beats that whole set hands down. And a hundred lonely housewives clutch their milk bottle to their hearts...
