Could be better, could be worse.

Staring /w Cars--def. could be better. This weedly-weedly synth part is just too hokey.

I give this Cars tune points for not being overplayed.  It may even be a breakout, not sure. But it's not like I'm gonna BOS it or anything.

Now, this Police tune -- this is closer to Katrina territory.

I'm awarding The Cars Best Flashback of Set because it totally takes me back to '81. Hella big time.

Uh-oh. My latent Valley-speak tends to become more prominent during early 80s set. Hellza sorry, dudes.

Thought I could listen in for a bit, but can't get the KFOG stream going & in any case I'm supposed to check out of my room at 12 (i.e 13 minutes ago).

Maybe I'll catch up with y'all during the Drive tomorrow, at least right now my a.m. schedule seems to provide time for that.

Ciao!

So far the highlight of the set (well, that and Superfreak). But it seems like it's been popping up more lately--nearing the dreaded Katrina status, if it's not there already.

Bet Hall & Oates get the popular BOS. I'll venture a VHM for now.

I'll BOS the Dan.  I didn't appreciate "Gaucho" at the time -- seemed a disappointment from their previous albums.  But it's pretty swell now.  And I'll WOS Phillesis and the most repetitive tune they ever did.

Eww, Genesis when they started to suck. But I'll give them points for interesting rhythmic counterpoint. (Not quite "The Eleven"--but still...)

i gave it to keith jarrett. the dan had to pay jarrett some dough after he sued them for borrowing the tune from his, "as long as you're living yours." still, "gaucho" is one of my top four fav dan songs.

Katrina Frame! Katrina Frame!

Still, it's Geils and they deserve props.  Not their fault their earlier stuff didn't sell gazillions.

Wit'cha. Still, can't exactly blame Seth Justman for bailing after having to play this night after night.

This has been the classic "past their prime" set--Genesis, Journey, J. Geils, all after they'd gone commercial.

Was it Seth who bailed, or Peter?  'Cause the whole album has Justman's fingerprints all over it.  I always beleived it was Wolfe who couldn't take the new direction...

It was Peter Wolf who bailed.  Seth stuck around long enough to sing lead on their final charter, "Concealed Weapons," which I haven't heard since seeing them do it on "on "Solid Gold" or somesuch c. 1983.

1/12/06 - Thursday!  Fun in...1981!!

Cars - Victim of Love
Police - Demolition Man
Rick James - Super Freak
Jam - Monday
Hall & Oates - You Make My Dreams
Go Go's - Our Lips Are Sealed
Steely Dan - Gaucho (BEST OF SET!!)
Genesis - Keep it Dark
J. Geils - Freeze Frame
Journey - Don't Stop Beliving
BONUS TRACK:  Kraftwerk - Computer Love

Catching the replay, but I don't intend to listen to the last 3 songs.

But can we start a petition to get the replay to include the bonus track?  I want my Kraftwerk today.

Okay, I stayed for the full helping of Cheese.  I didn't mind that Genesis track too much, it's far from a katrina & I used to have that album.

And "Freeze Frame" &  "Don't Stop Believing" just take me back to so many dorm dances in my freshman & sophmore years of college.
