Happy New Year, everybody!

Happy New Year, everybody!
Too bad we have to go out on 1985, but all the best to all of you in 2006!
-
Happy New Year, everybody!
You too, Beejman! It'll be happier if this isn't a Huey Lewis "Katrina of Love" 1985 set.
-
Oh, gawd yeah. Let's please hope we don't hear "Power of Love".
I'm diggin the set so far, though.
-
Best Bass Line to Tony Levin
-
BOS Dire Straits, the album of the year.
There's no such thing as sanity...
-
Runnin' Up That Hill!
-
Nothing to do with 1985, but Happy Birthday to Davy Jones and Michael Nesmith!
-
BOS Dire Straits, the album of the year.
Certainly in my top 5 that year, along with JCM, T.Heads, Sting & the Smiths.
-
and speakin' of JCM...

Here's yer JCM, and it's my fave track on it.
-
BOS Prefab Sprout, "Appetite".

BOS Prefab Sprout, "Appetite".
This will be one of the best '85 sets of all time if we escape without any egregious Katrinas.

I might be the only one, but I like hearing Scritti Politti in this set.

Does Scritti Katrini count? Actually, this sounds good to me today.
Re: the mexico quake, I was a Noo Yawker vacationing in LA when that happened (Sept '85). Sitting in Malibu watching it on TV was a tad surreal.
-
This is, like, what the band plays while you're trying to sneak out of the theater to avoid the cops standing in the audience....

I think we agreed that Dave only overplayed that in '02 & '03. In fact I'll wager we've heard it more often in 'classic' sets since then than in new sets.

Orange Whip? Orange Whip? Three Orange Whips.
-
and the whole stinking thing...
...comes crashing down with the opening strains of Bryan Adams.
-
WOS Bryan Adams. I can tolerate "Summer of '69" but sheesh, this is power balladry at its most stultifying.
-
Orange Whip? Orange Whip? Three Orange Whips.
LOL! Exactly!
And, yeah, Bryan Adams sucks & all. But, this is some good cheese for a Friday. I guess I'm just feelin charitable today.

Adams-hating jinx!
-
another mention for the "Yahoo 10@10 Club". This set be OLD. The golden age of Scritti-as-Katrina.
-
Computer glitch! Instead of a replay of today's 1985 classic, we're getting Tuesday's stellar '69 set! No complaints from me.
-

Aretha Franklin - Freeway of Love
The Cars - Why Can't I Have You
Tom Petty - Make It Better (Forget About Me)
Dire Straits - One World
Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
John Mellencamp - Justice and Independence '85
Prefab Sprout - Appetite
Scritti Politti - Perfect Way
