Kicking of with The Eagles.

Speechless. Just. Speechless.
Til Tuesday "Coming Up Close" in a Christmas set, changes the song completely. Ginger really is good.
Coming up close.
Everything sounds like 'Welcome home'.
Come home.

I'm listening to the Simpsons at 50% speed. Very bizarre. Are you getting the show at normal speed?
-
Y'all often dish on him, but I like Chris Rea, and i've never heard this song, "Driving Home For Christmas". So at least because it's a first listen I give it a BOS #2.

Yeah, nice and crisp. But it wouldn't load at all the first time. Spent 2 minutes 'connecting'. Retry & you might be better off.
-
I didn't hear the intro to the set, but everything seems to include 'home' in it, right?
-
Damn, Ginger seems intent on making me cry this morning.
BOS #3, S&G "Homeward Bound"
like emptiness & harmony I need someone to comfort me
sorry y'all. got the holiday blues for the first time in my life.

It' a very deep emotion. I don't have a 'family home' to return to anymore, certainly not my widowed mother's cluttered apartment. But still...
-
do they always interrupt the set with plugs?

That is a lovely song, a CG Xmas fave each year. I have it on CD if y'all want a copy.
No luck connecting here at home with dial-up, but from your posts it sounds like a wonderful set. Ginger rules!
BTW, Annalisa just played John & Yoko, which makes me suspect Dave's "classic" may not be a holiday set.
-
I can't listen, due to the half-speed thing, but I assume Kenny's "Celebrate Me Home" (a guilty pleasure and mild sledgehammer for me) will show up, so there's my BOS.
As for Til Tuesday, I was thinking to myself, "damn, I'd really liked to have heard that" -- and it actually took minutes to realize that I own the song on an '80s comp. Any of you ever forget what you have? Regularly?

Oh my yes.

Any of you frequently find yourself re-buying stuff that you already own? And it's obscure shit that you can't easily re-gift?
-
OK, I was able to connect normally (their page is now Firefox-compliant!), just in time for the gorgeous "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)." Now I'm getting a little sentimental about people I wish I were spending the holidays with.

I've done that with Seal and Annie Lennox, both of which were re-gift-able.

Ginger RULES! Nothing says 'Christmas' like a banjo.
:)

Just this morning. Listening to radio, switched to CD and there was Resurrection Shuffle. Forgot I had that. It was a recent acquisition, (Thanks Urth) on the WDRV Roots CD.

WOS to Pennsylvania-and-some-homemade-pumpkin-pie. I hate Perry Como's voice. And my old Pennsylvania home ain't what it used to be.

Oh wait, this isn't Perry Como singing. Sorry ...

Went to the homepage to see who it was & they already had the Crowded House listing up. So maybe Ginger doesn't rule quite so much for the next 3 minutes. Unlike the other 'home' songs in this otherwise stellar set, this song will never bring a tear to my eye.

I don't know who that was, but I guarantee that was a VERY old chestnut. Like Tennessee Ernie Ford or some such.
ETA: I mean, Damn, that was very good Geoff!
No more guarnatees from mshray, that will be my New Year's Resolution

The number of terms (re-gift, etc) that Seinfeld hath wrought is amazing. (That is a Seinfeld thing, isn't it?)

I love U2, but I'd much rather hear the Phil Spector version now.
-
Oh boy! U2's version of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." I actually prefer their take to that of Darlene Love and friends.

Well then. Who out there wants a copy of the Manhunter Director's Cut DVD. The first Hannibal Lector novel, Michael Mann's first feature film.
-
Karla Bonofff, n' c'est pas?
This is a real deep reach by Ginger.

Not his first, actually (that would be Thief) but a VERY good movie.

thanks for reminding me about Thief. As Bill Cosby would have God say, "Let's see, I used to know that..."
Now that I am the age I am, I should watch that again. I would definitely get all hot & bothered over Tuesday Weld at that age.
