Title: 30 June 2017: it's... 1968!
Post by: CapnJack on June 30, 2017, 09:43:02 AM
6/30:

On today’s edition of Soundwaves 10@10, it’s the year of rock and roll breakups!
We’ll hear the final Steve Miller Band single to feature guitarist Boz Scaggs, the
song that was recorded immediately after Ringo Starr quit the Beatles, the
soon-to-be-defunct group effort that was credited only to its lead singer once the
single was released.

Except for the Jr Walker rarity, another mostly "Sixties for Dummies" excursion.

I don't recognize this version "Sealed with a Kiss", but it's got some pretty pitchy singing.

Sounds like they're doing their best to cover it up with background vox and a MOR arrangement. I guess when your dad is Jerry Lewis, you don't have to sing too good.

Also: I guess I've seen "Love Actually" too many times. I can't hear Love is All Around without thinking of a leering Bill Nighy.

Young Gary L's lack of talent is legendary. And most of the musicians who actually played on those records were the Wrecking Drew.
