Chris Whitley, "Big Sky Country". Guess being dead makes Katrina status inevitable.
-
BOS Richard Thompson, "Gonna Break Somebody's Heart".
-
Enigma, "Sadeness" -- a record I found a bit silly at the time, but today it sounded kinda good.
-
VHM Bonnie at her loveliest, "I Can't make You Love Me". Covered a few years later by fancy miss Nancy Wilson (the original, not the Nancy Wilson from Heart).
and here's BAD, looking for a change of at-mo-spheeeeeeeeeere.
-
BOS2: Chrissie & Mood Swings' "State of Independence". This is one of the better '91 sets in some time.

That's a great record for the Yerba Buena...make that an awesome record. Wish it wuld have sounded good to me for that reason today.

LOL!
BTW, I've got a 10am meeting so keep score on Dave's set -- can't imagine what's planned, I'm thinking maybe a Vertical Tasting?

Even though I have this everywhere (iPod, computers, stereo, car) I love it when it's on the radio.

You'd think it would be a Dave 1991 Katrina, since (a) it's Chrissie Hynde, and (b) KFOG played it pretty heavily at the time, iirc.

Also covered by Prince (on 1996's Emancipation) and George Michael (on his greatest-hits comp), to moderately successful effect. It's destined to be one of the few "standards" of its era.
P.S. to Geoff: I gather from your new avatar that you're on break til the new year? Congrats on making it through the term!

Yeah, it's a somewhat illusory break, as I still have two papers to do for one class for which I'm getting an Incomplete grade. Still, it's a big weight lifted.

I still vividly recall the feeling of euphoria one would get (well, I would anyway) after my last final was completed.
Nowadays, the closest thing to it is when I'm leaving work the last day before a vacation of at least a week, and preferably more.
Geoff, enjoy your break, two papers notwithstanding. Got any getaway plans, or just chillin' in the Parkside?

And one of the few Top 40 hits co-written by a former NFL player.

A piece of trivia I'd never heard! I wonder if there are any others.
(Jim Weatherly comes close: He was a starting college QB before writing "Midnight Train to Georgia" and "Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me.")
