You rock! Thanks for the call! Will enjoy a fun afternoon at the ESPN SportsZone in Times Square. Fortunately, the MTA strike doesn't start until tomorrow.

And may the year bring Barry Zito to the Mets (kidding! I love ya but not that much!).
I was there for the transit strike in 1980. Not fun. But it was in April -- how'd they manage to do this in December? Say hello to Chris Berman and Stu Scott for us.
-
Hey, Many happy returns, bro! I hope DM has been clued in to your special day! If not, we suck.
-
DM mentioned me last year, so no sweat this year. Least we heard a shout to erstwhile clubber L-Dewd!
And I'm gigglingly doing the "Hi. Hi, hi" dance for "Pop Song '89."
-
WOS - Ronnie Reagan's "You like me, you really like me" speech.
And with that, I gotta run: Lunch and games in Times Square. Catch y'all on the flip side, and thanks again for the thoughtful notes!
Gaz

Happy birthday, Gaz!
-
1989: my least fave song on the wheel. Unless he finally plays "Walk the Dinosaur" or "Buffalo Stance". Or Roachford. Or Kon Kan. (All highly unlikely.)

Have a lovely afternoon! We're having a copy-desk lunch with all my grammatically picky homies, so I'll raise a glass of wine in your direction in a couple of hours!
ETA: and VHM to Once Bitten Twice Shy--has Dave ever played the original Mott/Ian Hunter version?

Once or twice.
BOS to this Panama montage. What this sets lacks in musical balls it makes up for in political cojones. "Road to Hell" indeed!
-
Chris Rea--an easy WOS pick for me. Don't know why this guy is popular--he doesn't strike me at all.

I'm guessing his not-unlike-Mark Knopfler voice is a draw, at least in the UK. This song is a blatant Straits clone; some of his other stuff is less so.
yeesh, here's Clapton.

Spoke too soon--WOS2 EC.
Should have never opened my mouth.
-
BOS EC. My favorite of his later period songs, just a great guitar solo.
And Happy Birfday, GAZ!

Bah.
Journeyman is a fine album.

FYC rear their heads. At least it's not "Good Thing". and that IS a Good Thing.
-
I find that I enjoy the Clapton tune a lot better if you sing along like this:
"Plaid Glove. Plaid Glove. I need clothing I can't be proud of"

BOS2, Cult of Personality.

Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week.
And BOS for COP. It rocks!

BOS2, Cult of Personality.
Ditto. Best of a Katrina-laden lot.
-
Proxy for Gaz: TFF, "Sowing the seeds". If I'm wrong, there'll be egg on my face and mud on my shoes.

Wit'cha all the way. TFF is a close second, but I think they got my vote last time, so it's Vernon Reid's guitar gymnastics getting the nod this time.

as I was napping between writing SFSU papers at the time!
Happy Birthday Gaz.

12/15/05 - Thursday! The wheel stops at...1989!!!
REM - Pop Song '89
Alarm - Sold Me Down the River
Great White - Once Bitten, Twice Shy
Chris Rea - The Road to Hell
Eric Clapton - Bad Love
FYC - Don't Look Back
Joe Satriani - Flying in a Blue Dream
Living Colour - Cult of Personality (Best of Set!!)
Tom Petty - Love is a Long Road
Tears for Fears - Sewing the Seeds of Love
BONUS TRACK: Bob Dylan - Everything is Broken
I'd have voted for Great White, just for grits & shins.
-
I wished Gaz an early happy birthday last week by phone, but I'm remiss not to have reiterated it today.
Happy Birthday Joe!
