Title: Thursday 12/1--it's 1976!!
Post by: urth on December 01, 2005, 10:02:50 AM
And starting with a deep Genesis track from Trick of the Tail! (Phil when he was good-ish.) Good start indeed!

ETA: OOoo--this could have early BOS potential--I'd forgotten about all the great synth and guitar stuff in here. (Dude, it IS prog rock, after all.)

Dude, it's Prog Phil!  And good morning, all -- it's a vacay day for me, I'm just finishing breakfast before heading out to do errands and a dentist appointment.

The conversation on the morning show almost veered towards "Let's do a 10@10 'Rain set' in honor of the weather", but they managed to contain themselves.

Whew! For a second I thought this might be Showdown, which falls heavily into the "rain song" genre. Still ELO, but I can deal.

So far the entire set has consisted of songs that weren't bona fide hits.

Oh wait--so much for that theory. Here's Frampton and his talkbox. Alicat must be all atwitter.

Why not?  :D Frampton and Aerosmith.
Just got Aerosmith tix for both shows. Missed the set until now. I'm totally atwitter!

Damn, boy, you psychic!

Just last week Ginger or Rob played "Something's happening" from FCA and I was reminded that there was good underplayed stuff there.

Cute segue o' the Day: Jimmy & Gerry lusting followed by "I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do".

Do we know you or what?   :D

Seriously, though, gotta go with Mike on this. Frampton is far too MOR to get my BOS vote. YMMV. (How can I get a couple more acronyms in this post? LOL!)

Is this as big a HFH as Chevy Van was last week?

Yes there are more interesting songs on FCA but I still like.

Another big 76 hit: Dream Weaver.

Man, this song must have been a bitch to mix, madly panning everything from right to left and vice versa. Sold a ton though.

Not a HFH to me, but very cheezy -- it started life as a commercial, after all. He gets points for being British, tho'.

OMG! Vickie Sue! Disco cheeze!  Love to hear per-CUH-shun!

Between the Frampton, the Vickie Sue Robinson disco, and now Walk This Way, this set has turned into an Alicat love-fest! Go nuts, Ms. Cat!

VHM Nadia Colmenicz (or however it's spelled). Would that Dave had actually played "Nadia's Theme".

OMG, Ali gets Aerosmith twice in one day!  Coincidence?

More disco cheeze! Dave's pulling out all the stops today -- it's Kraft city!

Will this be the loooooooong version?

Well, Dave's batting .500 this week with '74 & '76. (didn't care for '87 and reruns don't count IMHO).  So tomorrow -- '68? '67? or a theme to be named later?

Damn right. I was cranky this morning and now I'm cured.

Dream Weaver and Diana too. yeah baby!

I haven't seen Aerosmith since Oct 03. I feel like I'm already kicking off the '06 concert season. Now if only AC/DC would tour through this way.

thanks for thinking of me.  I didn't request, guess I could send a note.  Probably too late.  Hope you're all doing well.  My stress level is pretty high right now.  Half a dozen papers due in the next week at SFSU.

Sending vibrations of cool waters and cool change your way.  You'll be amazed at what you can bluff and riff when writing under deadline (believe me; that line defines my lifestyle).  An advance toast to your birthday as well as the completion of your semester.  Cheers!

BTW, the bonus Thursday was Dylan's "Hurricane" -- did anyone else notice Annalisa's half-hearted attempts to turn down the volume when he said "shit" and "son of a bitch"? LOL!
