Wish Bob'd play all of "Daddy Could Swear" in this '73 set.  But "Livin' for the City" does contain the "N" word.

from the Mighty Zep to Rhymin' Simon.  "Kodachrome", a song with great resonance to anyone who (like me) graduated HS that year. When I think back on all the crap...

Oh Lawdy Mama, those Friday nights when Suzie wore her dresses tight.

This was the first intro to EJ for me, my older cousin loved this song & some Elton in concert that year.
Title: Angie

not one of my favorite songs, but it sounds good now.  Is this Nicky Hopkins?

According to Allmusic it was actually his 9th, but I'm guessing Bob wasn't counting that soundtrack in '70 (which I'd never heard of until now).  Even if you don't count it, he put out 12 albums in under 7 years.

1969  Empty Sky
1970  Elton John
1970  The Games [Original Soundtrack]
1971  Tumbleweed Connection
1971  Friends
1971  11-17-70 [live]
1971  Madman Across the Water
1972  Honky Chateau
1973  Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player
1973  Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
1974  Caribou
1975  Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
1975  Rock of the Westies

from what I could Google, it's either Nicky H or Ian Stewart, both were on the Goat's Head Soup sessions.

VHM Dr John, just need a little brain salad surgery.   And now that I know what it means, I can say that with impunity

What does it mean?  I always thought it was something Greg Lake made up.

Another BOS Uriah Heep!

we had a lengthy discuss of this when Dave played both songs last week. Something to do with oral sex.

Damn, I wish this one could be archived.  I have never heard this song (and simply adore "Kodachrome" and kinda dig "Aunt Bea," er, "Angie").

I'm gonna miss the replay too: going to see a legendarily bad movie called "The Apple" with several work friends and FOAFs, one of whom apparently will be Stephin Merritt, of Magnetic Fields/"69 Love Songs" fame.

of course it helps to know the original ("Love Jones") before hearing the parody.  "Apple" was shown here recently as part of the "Peaches Christ" Midnite Movie series, iirc.  Supposed to be QUITE a hoot.
