Year chosen as an excuse to play Garry Shandling clips, presumably.
-
Jimmy Cliff's cover of "I Can See Clearly" -- which has never left the KFOG playlist in the last 23 years -- is an inauspicious start.
-
Hank Kingsley addresses the Larry Sanders audience - "Hey Now!" --> 10K Maniacs "Candy Everybody Wants"

Was trying to figure out if that Stereo MCs track was part of the set or not. Also a '93 song but i guess not.
-
more Larry Sanders --> Belly with an uber-LN.
-
more Larry Sanders
The clips were really sped up. Both Hank "Hey Now" and Larry had voices pitched up at least a half-step.
Loved that show.
PS: The lead-in song, Stereo MCs Connected, was released in 1993 in the US -- consider it a warm-up act...? jeebus

WOS STP "Wicked Garden"
-
hadn't noticed the speed-up til you mentioned it; but now it's quite obvious.
WOS2 Big Bore Todd and the Snoozesters.
-
I missed the whole Garry Shandling phenomenon. Did I miss much?

She's likely getting these clips off Youtube or elsewhere on the web, so it could be her source has been speeded up somewhere in the process before it got posted.
Oh and, big ass bleagh to Big Head Todd. Man there were some crappy band names in the 90s.

Yes. brilliant guy -- both sitcoms were great, esp Larry Sanders.
-
Not recognizing this but it's awful.
ETA: it's Dinosaur Jr.

(apparently intentionally) painful singing. Guitars aren't bad.

never saw much of the Garry Shandling show. Loved Luffed Lurved Larry Sanders. It was never a dead shark. I think they would still hold up if seen again.
-
Chris Farley in a van down by the river --> "Break it Down Again", another (T)FF.

it was great, and BOSFRA. In a sea of oh-so predictable songs that we get all the freakin' time, this is a "good thing".

That was kind of J. Mascis's style. Back then he had really long hair which was always down in his face when he played, thus giving him a very Cousin It-like appearance.
J. Mascis trivia: He was an early (maybe even high-school) boyfriend of Uma Thurman, who also grew up in Amherst.

With you 100%.

Blur "For Tomorrow" gets a BOS. I only stuck around for the Shandling stuff; musically this has been a set from Hell for me.

Blur is the BOS for me, and though the Dinosaur Jr. was a "tough listen" it stands out, too.
Big Head Todd? Belly? 10k Maniacs? TFF? Snooozefest-o-rama-ville-town
-
Breeders "Divine Hammer" -- at least it's not "Cannonball".
