-

And Mick & da Boyz singin' about massive boobs!

well, anything's better than one of their own songs...

Let us remember that, now that U2 and Macca have split town, there are a good number of tickets for the Stones yet to be sold. It's a great song, but I don't expect that our hearing it today is a huge coincidence.

:) i have their cassette demo from '94 lying around somewhere. not bad stuff. pre-commercial, you know?

me too on the Train live cover medley, hard as it is to admit. I thought the insertion of the Lou Reed verse worked surprisingly well.

Yeah, tickets still avail but at what price!? I'm still heading up Tuesday without ticket in hand and hoping luck will come my way.
(When Stones came to San Jose a few years back I had up close tix but paid $300. Once was enough. Tix like that are now going for $1000 or better. Sheesh)

I'm wondering what kind of hoops they had to jump through to get the rights to include a zep cover on the cd. Think Zep is donating their royalties?
-
VHN, Bowie.
-
swell set so far! digging the cat, and bowie is god, of course.
-
BOS the Cat Man, twice in one day!
-
BOS Mr Cat from Alicat.
Man this sounds good. Been a while

Exactly. Remain steadfast, dear Alicat. I am confident your labors will be rewarded. If you have to pay more than $40 to get in, I'd be shocked, and more than likely you'll get a good seat for less than that. Just be patient and wait til Metallica goes on to start shopping in earnest (unless a great deal presents itself earlier), and all will be well.
-
BOS2 Mr Nash, "Milit'ry Madness".
-
woohoo!!! resurrection shuffle!
-
OMG! "Resurrection Shuffle", the Ashton, Gardner & Dyke version.
-
Dave's flying the "spot the vinyl" flag on YM today, and I believe this Ashton Gardner and Dyke song is it.
Early 70s lo-fi, kinda like Lee Michaels.
-
HM Yussef Islam.
Beej, that's yer scariest avatar ever!
Meant to BOS "Resurrection Shuffle", and here comes BOS4: "Nathan Jones"!
-
nathan jones! what a set!
-
Dave's flying the "spot the vinyl" flag on YM today, and I believe this Aston Gardner and Dyke song is it.
Early 70s lo-fi, kinda like Lee Michaels.
i think nathan jones is on vinyl.
-
BOS to Nat Jones.

Lee Michaels is the one bonafide Katrina in a 1971 set, hope we can avoid him for today.
-
BOS5 Last Picture Show clip. Ben Johnson, who won the Supp. Oscar, no?
-
Beej, that's yer scariest avatar ever!
Ha-ha. Very funny. :D
-
HM to Rod, in the days when no one imagined that he'd someday splooge all over the Great American Songbook. Hell, I'd take 1981 disinterested new-wave Rod over his current incarnation.
-
Lee Michaels is the one bonafide Katrina in a 1971 set, hope we can avoid him for today.
And "Maggie May" is the other genuine Katrina. But I'm not complaining, this is one fab set.
-
Agree with the BOS for Nathan Jones, and BOS2 to Rod Stewart--I have no idea why, but I still get chills when the 12-string guitar comes in on the intro of Maggie May.
Saw a very hoarse Jonathan Richman play this on a lark once, quite awhile back--a fabulously silly, spontaneous moment!
-
OMG! "Resurrection Shuffle", the Ashton, Gardner & Dyke version.
That was the vinyl, not Nathan Jones. Dave tole me so hissown self.
-
Oh Lord, even "Another Day" sounds good to me today.
-
Not just another day, this is a pretty good day. Thanks Dave!
-
It's just another day. la la la la. Sometimes you feel so sad.
Not today!
-
Oh Lord, even "Another Day" sounds good to me today.
ayup!
-
Oh Lord, even "Another Day" sounds good to me today.
And to me as well--this song is a veritable sixth-grade sledgehammer for me. Superb set from an incredibly deep year. Did they record bad songs in 1971?
-
"Joy to the World" is the most dated of 3DN's hits, but I still think it's fun when I haven't heard it in a while. The harmonies in the second half are a treasure.
-
3rd Genuine Katrina: 3DN. Now he's pushing his luck.
-
Joy to all of us!
-
I don't know if I'd trust wine made by a frog- but whatthehell- JOY TO THE WORLD!
-
Did they record bad songs in 1971?
The Osmonds certainly did.
-
TDN always makes me remember my old housemate Rich, who was a very hearty fellow. Every year around the holidays when we'd be partying he'd suddenly burst out, "Hey everybody! Let's sing Christmas songs! Okay? How 'bout we start with 'Joy To The World'? Ready?............JEREMIAH WAS A BULLFROG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
-
3rd Genuine Katrina: 3DN. Now he's pushing his luck.
I don't know that I'd call this a katrina--I don't recall hearing it that much. At least, not since 1971.
OMG!!! Moulty!!! BOS3!!!
ETA: Ooops! Not Moulty. Timothy. What was I thinking?
-
WOOT! BOS2 to the other white meat!
-
Oh, dear. Timothy!
-
I don't know if I'd trust wine made by a frog- but whatthehell- JOY TO THE WORLD!
You start drinking bullfrog wine & next thing you know your best friend is missing & you've got a belly-ache.
-
See, they really knew how to tell a story with a song back in '71. HM "Timothy".
-
Did they record bad songs in 1971?
The Osmonds certainly did.
Watch it, bub! "One Bad Apple" is cheeze at its finest.
Now Donny's cover of "Go Away Little Girl" is another story...
OMG!!! "Timothy"!!! God bless Mr Holmes.

Ex-ACTLY! LOL!

Urth: Can you tape tonight?
That was some good stuff.

Urth: Can you tape tonight?

Will try. It's certainly deserving, and I'm not gonna be able to get the marathon on Saturday.
Got it. But I am unable to get the Soul Patrol we heard on Friday, so if anyone else can step up here, that'd be great.
Talk at y'all on Wednesday. May try to catch a Chicago set while I'm there but can't guarantee I'll be awake at 10am, or near a radio at 10pm.
-
Btw, when was the last time we had two 70s sets and a Soul Patrol in the same week? Hope this trend continues.
