Title: 13 Jan 2016: it's... 1980
Post by: RGMike on January 13, 2016, 08:47:21 AM
given that the Bowie set was rather '70s/'80s-centric, I'm guessing today is a '90s or '00s day.

But I'm wrong, thankfully.  Kool & the Gang start us off with some "HAAAAY!"

And will we get something off Scary Monsters? Would not at all be surprised.

I'd bet money on it.

Echo/B-men "Do it Clean" was a nice rarity, rates a VHM.

And Eddie Rabbit gets one too.

Nice. The Urban Cowboy trend is getting some serious love this time around. Juice Newton next?

And is this one a bustout? Could be.

Newly-minted Grammy Lifetime Achievement award recipient Linda R, "Girls talk". EC hated this but I think it's swell.

Yeah, but I bet he still cashed the checks. And he probably has warmed up to it since then. He was still in his "difficult artist" phase back then.

Btw, am reading his memoir right now, Unfaithful Music  and Disappearing Ink. It's good. Very non-linear, kind of like Dylan's Chronicles Vol. 1.

In light of the Malheur occupation, that clip of Reagan was pretty great.

Boz's "Look What You've Done to Me" is one of his best ballads. And being on that sndtk made up for his having turned down Sat Nite Fever.
