Is this the Stones cruisin' down Route 66?  Sandie Shaw gave it a much better ride.  Don't forget Winona!

BOS2: Peter & Gordon with Macca's "World Without Love".  World Party did a nice cover of this about a dozen years ago.

Hmmm. If I find myself near a Borders this weekend, I'll go have a look. Wonder what's on volumes 1 thru 6? (And if they're available.)

That's quite a lineup of hard-to-find tunes. The Montanas "Run To Me"? That's not the sunshine-pop semi-hit of theirs Dave has played ("You've Got To Be Loved") so I wonder if it's a cover of the BeeGees hit of the same name. "13 Questions" is a personal fave '70s gem; The Magic Lanterns' "Shame Shame" has been discussed here as one of the all-time high scorers on American Bandstand Rate-A-Record; ya gotta love Max Frost & the Troopers (the Castro showed Wild in the Streets this week); I've never heard the Fardon version of "IR".

Oh, and I'll wager there's a Cryan Shames song on each volume

Hey, if you do see them, want to get one for me? I'll pick up & reimburse promptly. They're $14.99.

I have it on a Dick Bartley compilation CD.  The Raiders actually improved upon it considerably.  Fardon's version has a slightly different lyric, but the big difference is that his version didn't play up the "Cherokee people! Cherokee tribe!" as a risible refrain.  Genius arrangement by Mark Lindsay or whoever handled such things for them.  If you can receive files these days, I can send off an MP3 of it.

Or maybe I'll follow Mshray's lead and make mix CDs for all . . .
