OMFG -- request thread is up!
-
Color me gobsmacked!
-
STAY-tus Quo, "Matchstickmen" TOTHK
-
2001 (HAL feels much better) --> Mr Masakela in the grass. Two fairly well-worn choices so far but since '68 comes up so rarely I won't complain.
-
"take your stinking paws off me!" --> the Monkees (heh), "Valleri". Easily one of my 2 or 3 fave 45s of theirs.

Sing it, Davy!

BOS Stones -- no they don't want your ID, gurl.

Yep, one of their greatest (and less-played) songs. Nothing wrong with the first two, but this one is BOS1.
And BOS2 to Jiving Sister Fanny Stray Cat Blues. Nice. I picture pandemonium in snipeville.

It's no capital crime.

Feelin' feverish: The Band takes one in the chest. BOS2

Lllllllove "Chest Fever". Fun to play the organ on this one.
-
Buckley/Vidal debate at the convention; "crypto-Nazi" enters the lexicon --> Jimi.
-
OK, "Grapevine" is one I never need to hear again. wonderful and historically important tho' it may be.
-
BOS3 Beatles and their monkey. Cue 2nd Apes clip?

Love the left/right stereo separation on headphones!!

Another less-played tune. Very nice indeed. BOSX+1.

Wow, I don't recognize this one. Nice Beach Boys Waltz.
-

Nice... I've never heard it before either.

Yeah, LN. Billy Joel did a nice version of it at PacBell Park, though.

Gotta play a couple for the casual/gen-X fogheads, but we got some nice nuggets for the fanatics among us, too. Given that a number of our more recent 60s visits have been heavy on the FFs, I'd call this one a win.

and we're back to the present with the very annoying Milky Chance, channeling Dieter on "Sprockets"

Yes, lame. I'm sorry, but something being "milky" sounds gross to me. Whatever it is, it's got too much milk in it.

I guess it's a German thing.

Today on 1968 For Beginners...
Three well-worn choices, four less-played selections from well-worn artists, and three
moderately-worn choices.
No bust-outs.
Did it sound good great? Well DUH! It's 1968, yo.
Another plus: there wasn't the Barbarella trailer sequeing into a song about love.
And Hendrix + headphones = YOW! Also, with Jimi, The Band, the Beatles (yay!), the
Stones... an acceptably high rawk quotient.
The dark lining in the silver cloud is that I think today was more of an aberration than
the start of a trend.

Yep. Conversely, Dave hardly played the Monkees, while Annalisa plays much more of their
catalogue much more often.
2. Hugh Masekela - Grazin' in the Grass
An long-established member of the Twenty Plus Club.
7. Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through the Grapevine
The song itself is in the Twenty Plus Club, evenly split between Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight,
while neither one alone makes the mark.
10. Sly & the Family Stone - Dance to the Music
My gut tells me there's a Sly song in the Twenty Plus Club, but I haven't checked. This
one almost made it.

Without looking, my money would be on "Hot Fun/Summertime"

My guess is it would be Hot Fun in the Summertime.

As iconic as "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" is, has it been played much?

no -- a couple of spins, and none in the Morey era, which is surprising.

Oops! I should check my own list... yes, Hot Fun in the Summertime is already on it, with 23 spins.

According to my files this is its fourth appearance. Dave played it once on 17-Oct-2003.
