a year in which I have no requests.  My one '98 suggestion got played ages ago(Mavericks, "Dance the Night Away"). I'll be elsewhere today.

Per a post in 'snipe-ville, the TOTHK is "Flagpole Sitta", one of the major LNs of "98 sets so... glad I'm listening to The Jonathan Channel.

 Kenny Rogers?

Kenny Rogers?

Yeah, courtesy of The Big Lebowski soundtrack. Lebowski seems to be a common thread of nearly all 98 sets these days, and this song is nearly as common. Good day for me to be consumed with all things Apple. Again. (Didn't we just do this?)

Yeah, she plays this one often in '98 sets -- we've discussed whether it's "cheating" or not, but I think it speaks to what a weak year '98 was musically.

No one's taking notes? I'd do it but I'm nowhere near a radio at the moment.

courtesy Facebook:

1. Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta
2. Hole - Malibu
3. Kenny Rogers and the First Edition - Just Dropped In (To See What My Condition Was In)
4. Chris Isaak - Flying
5. Lauryn Hill - Everything is Everything
6. Dave Matthews Band - Stay (Wasting Time)
7. Sublime - Badfish
8. Sheryl Crow - The Difficult Kind
9. Foo Fighters - Hero
10. The Brian Setzer Orchestra - Jump, Jive An' Wail

Overall I give it a "meh", despite a couple rarities (Lauryn Hill and maybe the Crow)

So there was a Sublime song in the set today? They also played Santeria at about 9:45. Just sayin'.

Yeah, we've discussed the appropriateness of Rogers in this set (with the nays dominating). I'm one of the few who like the DMB track, "The Difficult Kind" is the type of song that should appear in a 10@10... a deeper cut from an album with a couple of LNs. I would actually choose Isaak as the most egregious LN (his sound really doesn't change over time), Hill as the HAAAAAY!, FF as the host-infused FF, Harvey Danger as the "FF, but it kinda represents the year so we'll give it a pass" selection, and Sublime as the Toad (not FF or LN or necessarily bad, just doesn't add much).

I'd pop a cap in that guy if he wasn't already dead.

I think I have to abstain from BOS voting on this one. Nothing I have any strong feelings for.

FYI, since AL's return in 2014, she has visited 1998 five times.  Here are the repeat offenders:

Kenny Rogers & The First Edition "Just Dropped In..." - 3
R.L. Burnside "It's Bad You Know" - 3
Chris Isaak "Flying" - 3
Jonathan Richman "True Love Is Not Nice" - 2
Harvey Danger "Flagpole Sitta" - 2
Garbage "Special" - 2
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy "Big Time Operator" - 2
Hole "Malibu" - 2

In addition, these artists appear multiple times in her 1998 sets:

Kenny Rogers & The First Edition - 3
R.L. Burnside - 3
Chris Isaak - 3
Garbage - 3
Sheryl Crow - 3
Jonathan Richman - 2
Harvey Danger - 2
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - 2
Hole - 2
Foo Fighters - 2
Beastie Boys - 2
Dave Matthews Band - 2

And, of course, four out of the five visits have featured clips from The Big Lebowski.

Take it FWIW.

I don't think much of the current imperative that every clip must lead to a clever segue, however
what's missing in this listing is the clip from Frasier, which I think came before Chris Isaak.
It's from a 1998 show where Frasier has a torrid but otherwise unfulfilling affair with a woman
named... Caitlyn.  Nice find by Annalisa.

I'm more surprised that there was one set that DIDN'T have any Lebowski content than I am about the four that did.
