Yay!

Seems like ages since we went anywhere in the first half of the 70s--what gives? There was a 72 set two weeks ago, but since then anything in the 70s has been 76 or later.

"she's a cow, she's a cow, she's a cow now..."
Seems like we visited '77 recently, but I don't have my list handy.

Sorry, I'm mostly on SF time these days. Chicago has never been compatible with my sched, and Boulder only occasionally.

LOL! Mooooo.

Just scroll down the topics of this forum, you'll see it was Sept 15 last time.

Prog rock goes commercial!!
Is it just me or does Carry On Wayward Son sound like it's got an extra dose of reverb on it?
-
VHM for Kansas. I have a soft spot for this one since the Stanford Band played it.
-
Cool avatar, RGMike! Gotta love Foxxy. New season starts tonight (as you no doubt know).
If we get to hear the "Ling-Ling Battle Song" on tonight's ep I'll be very happy.

Are you listening on the real radio or online? Everything sounds like it's in a cave playing through a phaser online.

Listening on the web? I'm pretty much used to it now, but the web always has a little bit of a hollow sound that might be causing the effect you are hearing...
BOS, Kansas, BTW. It's tacky and all, but the guitar solos soar nicely!

The Roots of Christian Rock, next time on the History of Rock and Roll!

Great job Dave -- a little tribute to Bill King. Touchdown RAIDERS!!!
-
Best of Set to Bill King and Rod's Raiders, in their heyday.
Btw, Dave's YIM status sez we're playing spot the vinyl. Anyone heard any pops so far?
BOS2 to Queen. Thinking this is a bustout.
-
BOS Queen! From my favorite album, A Day At The Races.
-
BOS Queen just for not being one of the usual Queen tracks.

I love that clip: "Madden's grinning from ear to ear, he looks like a split watermelon."
I am pretty sure this is a bustout, too, if I'd heard it before I'd have let y'all know it.
-
VHM Crawler, "Stone Cold Spot the Vinyl".
-
I'm gonna go with BOS for Crawler. I even bought this LP (yes) in a used record store on vacation because I dig "Stone Cold Sober".

VHM Crawler, "Stone Cold Spot the Vinyl".
This was in the classic set we heard last month, wasn't it?

Nope, over-the-air radio, as it was meant to be!

Dave used two clips from Bill King for the 9:00 pop quiz today. "The Immaculate Reception" and I forget the other one. No need to participate in it since I don't care how close I get to David Gray.

Speaking of bands playing through phasers, Crawler is using one bigtime on this track.
-
VHM The Legendary Ms Perfect.
-
VHM Crawler, "Stone Cold Spot the Vinyl".

Hey, I just noticed that was my 2000th post. M&M's for everyone!

Woo Hoo! Are those the new Mega M&Ms?
-
VHM Crawler, "Stone Cold Spot the Vinyl".
I phoned in my Queen vote & Dave said that Crawler is in fact on vinyl. I used to have this LP, but no longer. Found the MP3 not long ago in case anyone needs to have it.
-
BOS2, EC "WTTWW".
-
BOS #3, Elvis "WTTWW", which gots to be the coolest initials of any song title I can think of.
-
BOS2, EC "WTTWW".
initials JINX!

Well done, virtual chatterboxes! I'll take all the brown ones...
-
AAACK! WOS Mr Loggins -- it's bad enough we have to hear this at Thanksgiving & Xmas.
-
BOS2, EC "WTTWW".
I'll second that second. Early Elvis always sounds good on 10at10. So who is Foxxy? Searching on that name only turned up Austin Powers. I have a recollection of seeing a cartoon online with her as a character. Is it something on Cartoon Network?

BOS Saturday Night Fever clip
-
"You can't f**k da fewtcha, da fewtcha f**ks YOU!"
BOS2 "Smoke From a Distant Fire".
-

Who says dat? "SFADF" has always been a favorite. "Don't let the screen door hit you ON YOUR WAY OUT!"
-
"You can't f**k da fewtcha, da fewtcha f**ks YOU!"
Why am I just learning of this quote NOW?!
-
VHM to the Sanford-Townsend Band, a Dave fave if ever there was one.
-
HM for Peter Gabriel for making 3-4-3-4-... sound natural. And a great song, though played to death.
-
And BOS2 to my avatar, PG. My first concert, at Winterland in April of 77.
And I've got a shot of Solsbury Hill as my wallpaper, taken when we were in Bath last year.
Yeah, I'm kind of obsessive....

I always like hearing this too.

I'm with you man. Too late to shut the barn door, horses long gone.

not sure where to mention this, but driving up through SLO county yesterday on the way back from Disneyland all we could get for a while was a lite rock station & we heard a really bad cover of "Rhythm of the Rain" (the old Cascades nugget from 1963). The guy singing slowed it down a couple of notches too many & it was generally uninspiring. Even sounded a bit country-ish. Then found out it was Dan Fogelberg. WTF!?
-
well, best of a so-far uninspiring lot this week. Dave better have something major up his sleeve for Friday (I'm guessing mid-'80s for tomorrow?). Have a fun day kiddies!

From his covers album, Pass the Xanax
Speaking of covers, I keep hearing a country-ish verson of "Another Saturday Night" at the gym. Sounds like it might be Jimmy Buffett, but I'm not sure. And it occurred to me that every version I've ever heard has been by a guy -- anyone know of a distaff cover of the song?
