At least I think it is... request thread is up.
-
Well, if we really hear Candi Staton's "He Called Me Baby" that'll be a plus. Also, it's a thread, tho' she does not specifically solicit requests. I'm waiting for someone else to make one before I jump in.

Although I must admit I would love AL to do a '61 set, but the songs would be so short! ;)
ETA: My initial reaction to AL's post was "Is she doing a set full of covers of 'He/She Called Me Baby'?" That would be an interesting theme set...
-
Some fine possible bustouts in that thread. We shall see.
-
"Hey Ya" making one of its rare KFOG appearances just before 10@10. Not that I wanna hear *any* song 27 times a week, but it sure beats "Killer Queen" for the billionth time.
ETA: it's the long version, which I don't think they've played before.
-
Suzie Homemaker '71 --> "Dolly Dagger" Heh. BOS1 Jimi, a fine TOTHK.
-
Smarty-Pants doll --> "Bitch". BOS2 da Stones and their ode to Pavlov.

Was Pavlov's dog female?
-
and Ms Staton makes her appearance. BOS3.
-
Still Bill -- I know I know I know that "Ain't No Sunshine" is approaching LN territory but I'll give it a pass.
-
news: Nixon on the Pentagon Papers (?) --> birthday boy EJ, "Friends" VHM. Will we get Aretha too?
-
Joni, "California" -- not my request for "Carey" but BOS4 anyway.
-
Malibu Barbie (I detect a theme today!) --> Nilsson, "Down" -- BOS5 and methinks this is a bustout from Nilsson Schmilsson.
-

I put in a request for this one, so you can blame me for undercutting you. It's the first time she's played a request of mine in ages, so I'm pleased to hear it. This song has been resonating with me quite a bit lately, since it turned up on a 10@10 we were listening to while driving to Sacramento last summer. BOS for me, natch.
BOS3 Nilsson. If not a bustout, a serious rarity.
And I think that rendition of "Friends" was the first time that one has turned up in a new (non-rerun) set since Dave's farewell set in 2008.
-
All in the Family (everybody's sick) --> Todd, "Long Flowing Robe"! Holee crap. BOS6 and another bustout?
ETA: played twice before, amazingly. But the Nilsson appears to be a newbie.

That would be my assumption. *Never* expected to hear this on 10@10. Was it a request, or of her own choosing? BOS4 here.
-
"McMillan & Wife" > T. Rex Hot Love.
Rock Hudson & Susan St. James? Hot Love? Yeah, right.
-
McMillan & Wife --> "Hot Love". BOS7. I think Rock's idea of hot love was different from Susan St James'.
-
Brady Bunch meet Davy Jones --> "Teenage Head", Flamin' Groovies. Holy flaming mother of pop. I'm gobsmacked. BOS8 (!)
-
"Brady Bunch"
Jan Marcia & Davy Jones > Flamin' Groovies - Teenage Head.
And the segues keep coming hot and heavy, folks.

amazingly, that wasn't a bustout either (one prev appearance). But man this was a superb excursion.

Not the song I chose (I requested their cover of Randy Newman's "Have You Seen My Baby?"), but good nonetheless.
I'll have to catch the replay tonight (or hear it on SoundCloud if AL uploads it today).

Thus proving that if you pick tracks that are deep enough and only play them once every four years, people forget they've heard them before.

I think we should coin the term "Sufficiently Rare" to refer to a song that gets played less than once every four years or so. Because yeah, if it hasn't shown up since 2003, I'm probably not going to be bothered by it appearing again.
