Jeezus how long IS olive season, anyway?
TOTHK: uber-BOS1 Tom Waits, "Step Right Up"!! The quality goes in before the name goes on. Heartbreak of psoriasis? Christ, you don't know the meaning of heartbreak, buddy...

I'll give BOS2 to Bowie's "TVC15". I remember seeing him sing this on Saturday Night Live. Damn, he was weird. My 12-year-old brain could hardly comprehend it.
ETA: Looks like that was in 79, so my brain had a few more years, but still. Whoa.

Man Who Fell to Earth (I think) --> "Blitzkrieg Bop", rather well-worn but OK.

Let's go!

Lawrence Welk bicentennial --> "Play that Funky Music". An egregiously unnecessary LN for me.

I still like the song, but if you're gonna get funky, you could be a lot more...errrrr...authentic. Wild Cherry is kind of the KC and the Sunshine Band of Funk.

in case no one else heard this, KCBS was doing their weather report at 8:18, and Roberta Gonzalez led off with the factoid that Chicago was colder last night than the surface of Mars. Stan Bunger replied, "...legendary Bay Area DJ Dave Morey retired to some God-forsaken place in Michigan, how cold do you think it is there?" Roberta said something to the effect that it was likely -3, with a wind chill factor of -22.

H&O "Rich Girl", another hardly rare one.
Jane Curtin flashes her boobs on SNL --> "Crazy on You"

Heh. Another for BOS for "Crazy on You" with acoustic intro.

been catching up on YouTube some of the SNL 40 special. IMHO Jane Curtin is still vastly underrated.
-
Where's Geoff? Who played that bass solo intro for Steve Miller?
-
BOS2 Steve Miller, "The Window", one you rarely hear.

Yes I agree, she was always one of my favorites.

Per Wikipedia, it was Charles Calamise. Not a name I know.
One of my fave tracks from FLAE, though.

Indeed. Not sure I've ever heard it, but I like it. Some of the instrumentation sounds a little Zappa, except he'd play it twice as fast. The song itself sounds a lot like "Abracadabra"; a little foreshadowing...
-
NASA's "new" Space Shuttle --> "Show Some Emotion". or "Love and Affection". or whatever it's called. Always a BOS(3) for Ms Armatrading.

She was always my second to least favorite, beaten out only by Laraine Newman. Now, Gilda Radner...a top choice.

Haven't heard this in *ages.* This song always puts me in mind of Al Stewart. IIRC, they were released around the same time.

Great tune. I heard "Show Some Emotion" just a couple days ago, which is my favorite tune by her.

BOS4 Mr. John R Cash -- 2nd appearance in a week, with "One Piece at a Time".
-
BOS2 Steve Miller, "The Window", one you rarely hear.
I made this point several years ago, that the Fly Like an Eagle & Book of Dreams sessions were all recorded in one shot, and that there was significant mgmt pressure to release a double album. This may well have been the best double album ever, or at least a close second to the White Album, and if they knew what Frampton Comes Alive would do for the double album concept that same year it's probably the worst decision those label guys ever made.
OMG new BOS vote for the Man In Black!

For a sec, I thought we were hearing I've Been Everywhere, which as much as Johnny is revered as a legend, I think we've heard plenty (possibly because it's been used in a few ads). This is a much preferable option.
-
"Look For the Union Label" -->Nick Lowe "So it Goes". BOS5
A few overly-familiar tracks aside, this was quite enjoyable.
"On his arm is a skin-tight vision
Wonder why she ain't mine, she is his'n"
-
BOSn for Nick Lowe!
-
BOSn for Nick Lowe!
...and where it's going, no one knows.
Love it!
ETA: Seriously? that was Lowe's first single?
I Didn't Know That
-
She keeps talking about the imminent move; I suspect we might be getting another "encore" tomorrow.

Yes she played mostly straight, but I always liked her on the Weekend Update and other news segments.

Great set all around.
A really good year for music for sure.

Thanks, I'm doing ok, and hope you and everyone else are well.
But I haven't been listening to 10@10 too often, so I only post once in a while.

Love and Affection -- another fine bust-out. Is it happenstance, or is there possibly a trend
here? Is it a blind pig finding a truffle, or has AL been given a bit more creative latitude?

I raised this point a few sets ago - it seems that it coincided with Irish Greg and No Name returning to the morning show. Probably just me overestimating the impact of all this.

I'm utterly astounded that the Armatrading tune was a bustout. Coulda sworn that was one Dave played several times, but no. Maybe The Peak's sets (Rob has definitely played it multiple times) are coloring my perceptions again.
