Request thread is up.

I'll do my usual "take a pass on the '90s" thing today.

I might not be able to tune in today, so somebody take notes!

Annnd of course, the phone rang at 10:05, so I missed the first song entirely, and then forgot I offered to cover this. Whoops.
But props to HTY for stepping into the breach. Thanks!

No Doubt, Spiderwebs
not really that familiar w No Doubt's oeuvre, so I looked it up and Spiderwebs was released Nov 19, 1995 and peaked three weeks later at number 5 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart. So that's an oopsie.
"Beck is WOS."
- Kanye West

Missing by Everything but the Girl
...which contains the lyric "And I miss you. Like the deserts miss the rain"
...which is just silly, since it's denying the very nature of what it means to be a desert. So she's saying she would change completey to be with this other person? well, that ain't right. :)

I like that Beck tune. Sorry I missed it.

Damn it. He should have given up his spot on 10 @ 10 to tape of Beyonce's high school talent show.

Stone Temple Pilots, Lady Picture Show
Not a bustout, iirc, but BOS so far for me.

Is this Stone Temple Pilots Lite? Or Stone Temple Pilot Light?

We got Alice in Chains, and PJ put out an album in '96, so there's hope for all the soundalikes in this set.

Yeah, this one is pretty nice. BOS2.
Yep, another NTM as was the Phish. Fine set.

So far as I can tell, this was a bustout. EBTG may have been too, need to do a quick search.

Phoebe on Friends plays elementary school (or pre-school) and sings about slaughtering farm animals --> Chris Isaak, Think of Tomorrow

Bustout tally: Neither EBTG (3 or 4 spins during AL 1.0) or the Fugees (one spin about 4 yrs ago) qualify, but both still qualify as rarities in my book.
This Chris Isaak is, too. A rarity, will report back on its bustout status.
ETA: Actually turns out it's less of a rarity than I thought. It's been played once since she returned last year, and at least three times in her earlier tenure. Sounded good nonetheless.
And yes, this was one of the better 90s sets we've had in a good while. Two thumbs up.

IIRC, it peaked on Pop in very late 1996.
-
All in all, one of the best late 90's shows we've had.
