The year of Star Trek and the Miranda ruling. Thread just went up.
-
Guess I'll need to tune in and take notes! ;)
-
As I said on FB, it's great that '66 is still on "the big wheel", but it's also strange, in that the Sixties got short shrift during A-to-Z.

Good Morey favorite to start.
-
Tomorrow nevah know, do one? two BOSes so far -- '66 is 10-way-tie territory, quite often.

TOTHN (top of the hour nugget) = BOS1.
-
Love me some Revolver tunes. "Tomorrow Never Knows" sounds downright subversive, even in 1966.
-
John Lennon / Jesus Christ ---> Don Pardo "That's good" ---> Love "My Little Red Book"

John Lennon / Jesus Christ ---> Don Pardo "That's good" ---> Love "My Little Red Book"
I got no love for "Little Red Book". I've always been bothered by the chords which don't seem to match the melody. I imagine the dissonance is intentional, but ick.

The Music Machine "Talk Talk"

perhaps their way of saying "we know this is a Burt Bacharach tune, but we're not a pop band, yo."
-
Alfie ---> The Rolling Stones "Stupid Girl" !

Alfie --> "Stupid Girl". Great segue.
-
This is a Nugget-heavy set so far. Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that.
The 10-way tie is still in effect too.

Yo yo yo, indeed.

Alfie --> "Stupid Girl". Great segue.
Great accents in that clip.

The Association "Along Comes Mary"

-
Along Comes Mary -- wanna?
All stellar stuff so far as far as I'm concerned.
-
Walter Cronkite on UFOs/flying saucers ---> The Byrds "Mr. Spaceman"

They sure fit a lot of lyrics in there.
-
CBS Reports: UFOs --> "Mr Spaceman". We've gotten this segue before, but I love this song, so I'll forgive it.

I second that emotion.
-
Star Trek ---> the US/Russia space race ---> Paul Revere & The Raiders "Kicks"

-
Star Trek opening --> Russians land unmanned craft on moon --> Surveyor I --> "Kicks". Raiders interpreting Mann & Weill at their tuffest.
-
The Monkees ---> The Monkees "Take A Giant Step"
The flip side of "Clarksville"...
-
Monkees clip --> a "Giant" Monkees rarity. *swoon*
-
The Who "Substitute"
ETA: And we're already at tune number ten -- will we get a bonus or a treat during the backsell?
-
Monkees clip --> a "Giant" Monkees rarity. *swoon*
The intro sounds like Clarksville lite. I've never heard this before, but I've heard the Taj Mahal version, which is quite fine too.
-
the 'oo with the closest to a FF but whatthehell. They look really LN but they're just back-dated.

indeed, I'd probably heard Taj's version first and didn't catch up with the prefab four's take until years later

Batman and the theme to close

Batman to close us out. A delightful trip.

The Who "Substitute"
ETA: And we're already at tune number ten -- will we get a bonus or a treat during the backsell?
I guess the Batman theme will have to suffice. Stone, Who and Beatles were all represented -- alas, the Kinks get short shrift.
BOS to the Stones, but only if I am limited to one song. Otherwise it was a 10-way tie.

No room in the garage for Dylan either.

Per AL on FB, Paul Revere & The Raiders got BOS.
