Title: 29 Dec 2014: it's... 1976
Post by: RGMike on December 28, 2014, 09:20:53 AM
Just heard a "generic" promo. So either AL was busy on Friday or we're getting "encores" this week.

ETA: '76 with ELO "Living Thing" as TOTHLN

Hmmmm. Songs: 2. Rarities: 0. But both have been pleasant enough and sound like some of what I was playing on my turntable in that era. So far so good.

Bicentennial coverage --> "Kid Charlemagne". VHM.

"Those San Franciscan nights, they were the best around..."

Steely Dan at the height of their creativity.

Several city names dropped in this song, I'm just realizing. SF, LA, Vegas...

Quite a nice little run of three consecutive rarities here mid-set. And we still have three songs to go...

Pretty decent set...five serious BOS contenders (Dylan, BillyJ, Patti, JB, and maybe the Runaways), only one or two songs that still show up in KFOG's rotation (ELO, Stevie) and no really egregious FFs. I give this one four stars.

ETA: And it was lengthy, too. Approaching 50 minutes, if not longer.

It only occurred to me in retrospect that AL played the "live" version of the Billy Joel tune (from 1981) rather than the orig '76 version from Turnstiles. oops.

Was lucky enuf to catch this set today in the 9:00 slot of the replay.  And yeah, she did play the "live" version of "SGTH" instead of the orig.
