AL just posted this morning: "the year of The Big Lebowski and big bands swingin' again".

That description alone means I'll pass on this one. (Seriously, I hope she doesn't play "Just Dropped In..." again) But my predictions keep coming true. Hope that means '72 tomorrow.

Well, that means that so far this week:

One 80's set
One 70's set
One themed set
One 60's/90's/00's set

Given the algorithm we earlier discovered, we should get a second 70's offering tomorrow, and it might as well be 1972.

It will either be '72 or '89 (which is also overdue).  As noted elsewhere, the Ian McLagen passing would make '72 an appropriate choice. We'll go upstairs and read Rod's PowerPoint, no doubt.

Don't know about tomorrow, but you nailed "Just Dropped In..." -- although it probably didn't require a crystal ball to guess that one. Showed up in the #2 slot, it did. Wes Cunningham's thoroughly unnecessary And So It Goes was no. 1.

3. Air - Sexy Boy

Which will probably qualify as a rarity in the world of 1998.

4. DMB - Crush

(Fill in your level of necessity here)

5. Foo Fighters - Walking After You

Foo Fighters is to AL as Crowded House was to DM. Although to be fair, she chooses a wider variety of their songs.

8. Garbage - Special

Which for the most part, this set is not.

ETA: But the Chrissie Hynde allusions continue, e.g. the "talk of the town" refrain toward the end of this.

9. Goo Goo Dolls - Slide

Some days I have trouble picking a BOS. Today it's going to be hard to pick the most least necessary. (But this is high on the list.)

That would have been my first reaction, but then I remembered that they were everywhere in 1998. And come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve heard that song in at least a year.

While I haven't heard "Slide" recently, I heard it so many times 1998-2000 that it gets a lifetime LN 'award'.

But the Kenny Rogers violates the spirit of 10@10, so it gets WOS.

Wes Cunningham was typical for the time, and I haven't heard it in awhile, so I'll give it BOS. HM to "Crush", which I've always liked. But overall the set is kinda 'meh'.

Agreed. This is just about the only recurring feature I don’t like about AL’s sets, as it is an AL thing. (As far as I know, it wasn’t a Dave thing, and Renee tried it once and got complaints so she promised it wouldn’t happen again.)
