-1 to blues with '80's production gloss, minor footnotes to the careers of past-their-prime rockers, American/British worldbeat knockoffs, Rattle and Hum, "What I Am"

AKA the '88 set from hell... are you trying to get a job as KFOG PD?

If you were going by when the song charted, this would fit in 1989 (it was released in 1988).

I won't be able to listen to this live, so take notes! I wouldn't be surprised if AL finally plays Lita Ford's "Kiss Me Deadly" today. :)

Yeah, she seemed to be hinting at that last nite, acknowledging that it's a song "always requested" for '88 sets. Apparently it's not in the KFOG library and she keeps forgetting to bring it in from home. Hard to believe the Bone doesn't have a copy on hand.

Oh, and it's "Bay Area Rescue Mission" fundraising day on KFOG. They're commercial-free for the duration.

ETA: I hoped that new song by The Griswolds was our last before 10@10 but we're being subjected to Corrective Soles first.

Jessica Rabbit --> Lita!!!  uber-BOS for a fantabulous bustout, and a perfect TOTHK.

more Roger Rabbit --> Bangles "Hazy Shade of Winter".  Not rare at this point, but BOS2 to one of the great cover versions.

Enjoying the set so far very much.  I didn't know the Lita Ford song at all, but I can see why you were so intent on getting it played -- great effin' song!

Heathers --> Peter Murphy, "Indigo Eyes". VHM.

hit #12 in Billboard, and on my short list of great rock 45s of the '80s. And we got the uncensored ("didn't get laid") version. There was a radio edit with a different phrase ("didn't get a break") in that line.

Waterboys, one of the biggest FFs in '88, but it's still lovely.

Computer viruses --> "Nothing But Flowers". LN2.

Isn't it a Generation X (Billy Idol) cover?

Dan Quayle "we don't wanna go back to tomorrow" --> Ziggy M, "Tomorrow People". Cute segue but another fairly LN tune.

BOS3 Robyn Hitchcock "Balloon Man" -- a delight. The Bangles were fools to turn this one down.

Beetlejuice --> House of Love, "Christine". Possible bustout? BOS4FRA.

indeed, a bustout -- a sundaygal fave that I'm guessing she requested.

More Heathers --> Morrissey, "Suedehead".  BOS5 just because.

so, we went from "didn't get laid" to "it was a good lay". Heh.

Wow, AL used two of my suggestions -- this and Lita. Yay for me!

I have no strong opinion regarding release date vs. chart date; both have validity.  I think all
the hosts have used both.  I generally don't pay much attention to the charts and just look up
the release date.
