Request thread is up.
-
Jeebus. Didn't see that coming.
-
'90's will have to wait another week -- unless the formula is tweaked yet again. Sure, the sets are underwhelming, but I've got a lot more requests to make for those years, considering I was 21-31 then.
-
A guy in AL's thread made a bunch o' uber-FF requests, but then he suggested Steppenwolf's "Monster/Suicide/America", an amazing epic that was an FM staple back in the day. If we were to get that back-to-back with the Doors' "Soft Parade" we'd be well on the way to a looooooooooooong set.

Continuing along those lines:
The Who - Underture
Jefferson Airplane - Hey Fredrick
Grateful Dead - Dark Star (do live albums count?)
-
Oh Lawd, deliver me from Phillip Phillips.
-
TOTHK - Scooby Doo ---> The Band "Rag Mama Rag"
I believe this is a bustout...
-
Scooby Doo --> "Rag Mama Rag". FP gets a request! Nice TOTHK
-
Joe Cocker "Darlin' Be Home Soon"
Written by John Sebastian...
ETA: Another bustout?
-
BOS1 the Band; BOS2 Zho Co-kair, "Darling Be Home Soon".
-
Joe Cocker "Darlin' Be Home Soon"
Written by John Sebastian...
Whoa! I know the song very well (the Spoonful's version) but I've never heard Cocker doing it. Nice!
And the set started nicely with Rag Mama Rag, too. BOS for both!
-
Draft Lottery --> CSN "You Don't Have to Cry". VHM.
-
Mayberry R.F.D. pre-empted by draft lottery coverage ---> Crosby, Stills & Nash "You Don't Have To Cry"
-
Joni Mitchell "Chelsea Morning"
-
"Chelsea Morning" is nice but a bit LN at this point.
-
oy: Desmond Dekker is totally LN for me.
-
Joni Mitchell "Chelsea Morning"
There's a definite folky-rootsy, semi-Laurel Canyon vibe going in this set. I'm liking it. The BOS streak continues.
-
Desmond Dekker & The Aces "Israelites"
-
Monty Python "funniest joke in the world" ---> Bee Gees "I Started A Joke"
Nice segue...
-
oo! BOS3 BeeGees "I Started a Joke"
-
Desmond Dekker & The Aces "Israelites"
When this song came out, it sounded like the most foreign thing I'd ever heard. Little did I know then, it was my first exposure to reggae.
-
Monty Python "funniest joke in the world" ---> Bee Gees "I Started A Joke"
Nice segue...
I seem to recall that segue's been done before. No less appropriate, but not the first time we've heard it.
-
Laugh-In --> "Hot LN in the LN-time" -- seriously, this has been waaaay overexposed of late.
-
Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In ---> Sly & The Family Stone "Hot Fun In The Summertime"
-
Mountain Dew commercial ---> Blood, Sweat & Tears "Smiling Phases"
-
Mountain Dew commercial --> BS&T "Smiling Phases"! BOS4, one of my fave deep tracks from that LP.

This is jazz. I want to hear Jack Johnson.
-
Chicago "Questions 67 & 68"
-
someone laughing (?) --> "Ques 67 & 68". a bit dog-eared, but a fave of mine. VHM.
-
someone laughing (?)
I believe that was from the Monty Python "funniest joke" sketch.

Was the laughter a reboot from the "world's funniest joke"?

ETA: Jinx.
-
Jimmy Cliff "Wonderful World, Beautiful People"
-
Nice! "Wonderful World, Beautiful People" -- an old Morey fave iirc, but one we haven't heard much in recent years. BOS5.
ETA: looks like AL has played it in a few 1970 sets (it's one of those on-the-cusp tunes)
-
Wonderful World of Color theme to take us out...
Can't complain about a set with 5 BOSes, even if Dekker and Sly were pretty egregious LNs IMHO. YMMV.
-

Brass rock, actually. You want some jazz, try Miles Davis.
-
So, two bust-outs, two rarieties, two LNs, and four comfortably worn tracks. A bit more rock
than usual, but still avoiding most of the harder stuff. Is KFOG getting too old to rock & roll?

I'll probably have a '69 set in the alternative takes section sometime tomorrow that will be more to your liking
(e.g. heavier, harder).
