Looks like another Monday where AL might use some older suggestions from her request pile... but for what year?
-
Heard the promo this morning. 1973, pretty much right on schedule
ETA: Looks like I'm on my way to a morning-long meeting. So I'll have to catch up later.
-
Nice TOTHK from Sir Elton.
"Don't give us none of your Agro-vision. We've had it with your desktop plan!"

Wow! Gigantic BOS for the Who's "The Punk Meets the Godfather". Looooooove Quadrophenia.

Fully agree--the Elton TOTHK was good energy to kick things off, but it's been around the block a few times. And while The Punk... is no bustout, sounds great while keeping the energy high--the Who at the height of their powers. BOS.

VHM for Mott. The radio needs more Hooples, doncha think?
-
A nod to the glam side of things with All the Way From Memphis. No complaints here -- BOS2.
"And there was my guitar...electric junk."
-
Dr John, Such a Night. Surprised to find this isn't in the Shraytabase, so Dave likely didn't play it between 2000 and 2008.
ETA: However, looks like Renee took its cherry last August, playing it in a 73 set just over a year ago.

Holy cow, Gilbert O'Sullivan! BOS for extreme nostalgia. I listened to this a lot when I was on a cruise with my parents in 5th grade.
-
Wow, good stuff continues. The Toots song is NTM, but not something I get excited about. However, "Us and Them" gets two thumbs up.
Interesting clip from Nixon about secret talks.
-
Alice Cooper, No More Mr. Nice Guy after GO'S. No thrills there.
But! Toots and the Maytals, Time Tough is sounding like a serious Bustout/BOS contender. Woot!
And following that, Nixon Pentagon Papers clip > P. Floyd, Us and Them.
-
The war in the middle east news clip> John Lennon, Mind Games.
-
Eee-eee! BOS for Stevie's "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing". Great song that I played in the Stanford Band.
The music for LSJUMB songs always had silly titles. The tenor saxes' title for this one was "Aren't You Furry 'Bout Your Thing".

Todo da bien Chevrolet!!

I was initially bummed at having to miss one of my fave years, and yes the Toots was a bustout. But most everything else falls under the pleasant-but-not-earth-shattering rubric IMHO. The Gilbert O was a request of mine the first time it played, so nice to see it's still considered worthy pop cheeze. And I'd call the 'oo track a very noteworthy rarity.

Hmmm, AL hasn't uploaded the set to Soundcloud yet...

But she sez Pink Floyd and John Lennon tie for BOS.

Listening to replay, "Us and Them." I know you've heard it a zillion times, and it has a sort of mellow AOR sound to it, but I think it's a killer song, with a crushing message and delivery. One of my fantasy tunes my band will play in church someday.

I see the set lists still haven't been posted on KFOG's site... that clip was from the Kung-Fu
television program.
