Joni Mitchell - Song For Sharon
oooh, that's a gem. And wouldn't be out-of-place in one of AL's "mellow" sets. We can dream.

I'm down with the GP, but that Happy Days clip is getting close to "Sally" status, if I'm not mistaken.
BOSes so far to Seger, GP, and the Sanford Townsend Band's white-boy soul.
-
ooo! Ohio Playaz! "Who'd She Coo" -- one from my wish-list, tho I didn't request it this time. BOS3.

Rocky - "women weaken legs" --> Stones "Hot Stuff". Not my fave of theirs.

This remix is pretty interesting, though.

I'll take it. Not the best track on Black & Blue, but far from the worst.
Well, until the digital gremlins got ahold of it anyway. :)

WOS Rod the Mod, letting his inhibitions show.

Hit From Hell: Starland Vocal Band "Afternoon Delight"
Can't help but remind me of Anchorman.

This is the last picture, I swear.
-
Ford blows it in the right direction --> TP "Rockin Around Witchoo". VHM.
-
BOS4 Iggles, "Victim of Love", just for being relatively deep.
-
BOS4 Iggles, "Victim of Love", just for being relatively deep.
I'd go with that. One of the better tracks on HC, imo. Joe Walsh really shines on this one.
-
Mother Juggs and Speed --> "Cherry Bomb" VHM, since it's been a tad overexposed in the AL eras.
-
Gerald Ford blowing in the right direction
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "Rockin' Around (With You)"
Eagles "Victim Of Love"

Wow, AL closes with John Handy "Hard Work" during the backsell! (another one of my requests)

-
Mother Juggs and Speed --> "Cherry Bomb" VHM, since it's been a tad overexposed in the AL eras.
BOS. Is this the counterpoint to Tonight's the Night?
-
Wow, AL closes with John Handy "Hard Work" during the backsell! (another one of my requests)
of course your requests were also my requests :)
-
Uneven set.
Happy Days clips of the smoke from Fonzi's apartment, I swear I predicted (in my own mind while driving) that Sanford-Townshend was up next...great segue!
"women weaken legs" into 'Hot Stuff'...not so much.
Forget uber LN, "Tonight's The Night" is the ickiest (& probably stupidest) song of the decade. To wit: encouraging a 'virgin child' to 'just take a drink' so that he can 'come inside' = very icky. Telling a virgin to let her inhibitions run wild = tonight is NOT gonna be the night = very stupid.
ETA: not that this is Annalisa's fault; this is very representative of 1976 to my thinking.
But a big BOS for "Cherry Bomb"
-

Nothing wrong with that! :D
-
And of course "Cherry Bomb" is yet another Guardians of the Galaxy sndtk number (I was stunned that AL did '74 the other day without playing Blue Swede).
But despite a couple uber-LNs this was pretty OK IMHO.
-
9/5/14 Friday!!!!!!! We've Got the Fire Down Below in...1976!!!
1. Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band- Fire Down Below
(TV: Happy Days- Fire in Fonzie's place!)
2. Graham Parker & the Rumour - Heat Treatment
(TV: Happy Days- no fire at Fonzie's just smoke from burning breakfast)
3. The Sanford/Townsend Band- Smoke From a Distant Fire
4. Ohio Players- Who'd She Coo?
(Movie: Rocky "women weaken your legs.")
5. Rolling Stones- Hot Stuff
6. Rod Stewart- Tonight's the Night
7. Starland Vocal Band- Afternoon Delight
(News: Pres Ford and the heckler)
8. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers- Rockin' Around (With You)
9. The Eagles- Victim of Love
(Movie: Mother, Jugs and Speed Raquel Welch "Frame THIS!!")
10. The Runaways- Cherry Bomb (B.O.S!)
Outro: John Handy - Hard Work
-
"Who'd She Coo" appeared once (!) in the DM era and not since, so quite the rarity.
The John Handy is a bustout if "outro" instrumentals can be considered as such.
-
psychic request:
Joni Mitchell - Song For Sharon
oooh, that's a gem. And wouldn't be out-of-place in one of AL's "mellow" sets. We can dream.
At 8+ minutes I'm not holding my breath... I could have easily picked the shorter Amelia
or Furry Sings the Blues, but they're even slower tempo. But if it's rawk you want,
try my other request of Diamond Head.
-
OMFG -- she played one of my requests! Ohio Players "Who'd She Coo?"
Haven't heard this in ages. BOS
The '70s are the Golden Age of Funk.
-
Rocky - "women weaken legs" --> Stones "Hot Stuff". Not my fave of theirs.
This remix is pretty interesting, though.
Yeah, EDM is the current thang... count on the Stones to stay current. :)
She left it in for the replay. ;D
-
Oy2: "Afternoon Delight"
What did we do to deserve this?
It's apparently been promoted from HFH to guilty pleasure, and has appeared twice as often
PM (post-Morey).
-
Mother Juggs and Speed
I was surprised that what AL didn't mention in the backsell -- maybe she didn't know -- is that
today is Ms. Welch's birthday.
-

While extremely cheesy, I'm not so sure about it being icky. I see nothing in the lyrics that
preclude consent or mutual desire on the part of the (presumably young) woman. Nevermind
Mr. Stewart's age; this may well simply be a song about a young couple in love. The woman
is understandably hesitant but still wants to have sex, and the guy is trying to get her to relax.
It's not necessarily an underhanded seduction.
ETA: not that this is Annalisa's fault; this is very representative of 1976 to my thinking.
Yes, context is important. It also presupposes that a woman is not entirely in command of
her own sexuality, and must be otherwise coaxed or induced to have sex. It's patronizing.
As opposed to some more contemporary young women, who will just as soon give you a
blowjob as shake your hand, rather than engage in the more risky act of intercourse.
-
"Who'd She Coo" appeared once (!) in the DM era and not since, so quite the rarity.
I see two spins, one on 7/25/06 and another on 11/20/08.
