Predicting 1989
-
I'll predict 1969.
-
'89 is a distinct possibility; '84 or '74 even more so.
-
I'm hearing Goo Goo Dolls right now. Is it a '90's year, or is the show starting late?
-
and it's... 1997. Eeek. Think I'll pass.
-
1997 - TOTHK - Seinfeld "serenity now, insanity later" ---> Everclear "Everything To Everyone"

Yes and yes
I Like Everclear, but their hits are more indistinguishable from each other than most pop bands.
-
Dolly the cloned sheep ---> Space "Female Of The Species"

-
Excellent TOTHK and of their “big” hits, the least overplayed one IMO. BOS1 Everclear
-
well, we heard "MMMMBop" in the Guilty Pleasures rerun yesterday, so I guess that's out.
-
Hmm, we’ve heard this exact same segue before. I wonder if this is a rerun...
Edit: Couldn’t find any previous sets with Everything to Everyone as TOTHK.

Might this be a bustout?
EDIT: Apparently not. But as Rad says, I'm glad it's not "Father Of Mine", "I Will Buy You A New Life", or my least favorite of theirs (from Y2K), "Wonderful".

our last '97 visit was May 1st (I was in NYC). and we heard the Everclear (tho' not as TOTHK).

Peter Jennings "Hello Dolly" ---> "Baaaaa" ---> Big Head Todd & the Monsters "Please Don't Tell Her"

-
Peter Jennings "Hello Dolly" ---> "Baaaaa" ---> Big Head Todd and the Monsters "Please Don't Tell Her"
or Big Bore Todd and the Snoozesters, as I like to call them. Their popularity still baffles me.
-
More Seinfeld "serenity now, insanity later" ---> Jamiroquai "Virtual Insanity"
-
All of these so far range from “we’ve heard before” to FF, inclusive.

On this I fully agree.

Paula Cole "I Don't Want To Wait"
well, it's not the cowboys song at least. :)

That this is easily my BOS so far is not good news.

More Seinfeld "serenity now, insanity later" ---> Morphine "Early To Bed"

I’ll BOS2 this Morphine thing.
-
Mark Knopfler "Wag The Dog"
-
I’ll BOS2 this Morphine thing.
Me too. Haven't heard this one before.
-
Ill BOS2 this Morphine thing.

Not a bustout (played once before) but certainly a rarity, in that it's not a KFOG rotation staple either.
It seems to me that whereas DC wanted 10@10 to be loaded with such rotation mainstays, the new PD has the opposite view. So far only the Big Head Todd and Knopfler tunes were actually being played by KFOG in '97, afaik.

Bill Clinton on monitors in Iraq searching for weapons of mass destruction --->
title of this one escapes me Daft Punk "Da Funk"

Crud, new BOS after I'd been set with what I was going to write for Paula Cole.

"Liar Liar", yes?
I associate this with the summer of 1998. EDIT: Sure enough, album was released 2/3/1998, single 5/5/1998.

Ooh, how I used to hate this song but it sounds oddly refreshing right now.

I associate it with a Dave Morey "My 3 Songs" -- non-Xmas songs that mention Christmas -- that he did a couple of Decembers iin a row.
-
Liar Liar ---> Reel Big Fish "Sell Out"
Ooh, how I used to hate this song but it sounds oddly refreshing right now.
Certainly 1997-appropriate, and a vastly better choice than "The Impression That I Get".

I always liked it and it's a welcome retro-ska alternative to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

I didn't diggit, and I don't think I paid attn to it back then if I ever heard it on the airwaves. Not an OC-style ska fan. I listened with half a reluctant ear, but I got that it was a dig at the music and record induistry, and I kinda tire of songs like that. there are some classics that I do like, but this one seemed too self-indulgent. I think it was the ska.

Unless he just hasn’t gotten to 10@10 yet, like he has with Connected. :'(

Has Connected changed that much? I honestly think 10@10 has improved since the new guy took over.

Per AL, Jamiroquai got BOS; Pearl Jam, Morphine and Daft Punk VHMs.

Yeah, Connected has changed a lot. Dred used to bust out deep cuts and more obscure singles almost daily...now it’s almost entirely well known singles. I’ll give him that most of the tracks aren’t in regular rotation, but they still are typical of KFOG fodder. The best we can expect is once in awhile we might get an out of format single or a somewhat (but not completely) obscure single.
This last week was particularly bad (with 9/5 being less bad than the others):
