Request thread is up.
-
as I predicted in my (now-deleted) original thread... early '80s.

which is also what I predicted, give or take.

How about some yacht rock, Michael McDonald with I Keep Forgettin'?
-
Nice to hear "Honky Tonk Women" right before 10@10. Given that we heard the Stones yesterday, I hope we can avoid "Start Me Up" or "Waiting on a Friend" today.
-
AL and RR giggling about RR's mom trying to pinch one of the Rolling Stones?

TOTHK - E.T. ---> Prince "Delirious"
-
TOTHK: Prince, "Delirious". Not too rare, but delightful. BOS1.
of course, the LP was '82, but this wasn't a hit single until the following year.
-
LN1: Dolby, "Europa and the Overplayed Twins"
-
Thomas Dolby "Europa and the Pirate Twins"

Squeeze, "Black Coffee in Bed", another frequent-flier, or at least it seems so to me.

"Stain on my notebook says there's nothing to eat." Not sure why it says that, but it does. Or it used to anyway.
-
VHM Paul Carrack, "I Need You".

This one is NTM. Nice Carrack connection to Squeeze.

I think it's "the stain on my notebook says nothing to me" but that doesn't make much sense either.
-
CNN2 ---> Donald Fagen "New Frontier"

promo for CNN2 --> "New Frontier". Are you mad about Brubeck? BOS2 Mr Fagen.
-
VHM Paul Carrack, "I Need You".
Apart from his involvement with Squeeze/Ace/Mike & The Mechanix, Carrack has been a 10@10 underplay. I recall when RR played "Don't Shed A Tear" there was a collective WTF response from GS. This for a Top Ten hit.
-
Roxy Music is a pretty predictable choice, nice as it is.

Roxy Music "To Turn You On"

Oh I know that. Now ;) But I didn't for a long time.

I recall this one being a Morey fave, but I'd love to hear "Button Off My Shirt" some morning. Or even the Ronnie Milsap country hit version.

BOS for me too. And always nice to hear the smooth stylings of Mr. Ferry and company.

uber-LN2 INXS.

INXS "The One Thing"

INXS "The One Thing"
I was thinking this sounded pretty good today.
Would have been better if the Roxy tune was "The Main Thing".

For me, "One Good Reason" and "I Live By The Groove" would respectively spice up a 87/88 and 89 set.

INXS has surpisingly held up well after all these years. "The One Thing" would be a good TOTHK.

Square Pegs ---> Adam Ant "Goody Two Shoes"

"Totally different head -- totally" --> "Goody 2-Shoes". Also LN to my ears, (as is the Square Pegs clip), tho' I'm not sure when we heard it last.
-
More Square Pegs ---> Bow Wow Wow "I Want Candy"

more Square Pegs --> "I Want Candy". Talk about sticking to the tried-and-true.
-
CBS News Nightwatch ---> The Clash "Know Your Rights"
-
yay! uber-BOS3 my Clash request -- a def rarity, "Know Your Rights".
-

Does that save this set?
ETA: 49ers World Champions to close the set. Would rather have AL talk over "Key Largo" during the backsell to close out the set.
-
yay! uber-BOS3 my Clash request -- a def rarity, "Know Your Rights".

.
a nice way to end but a little too tried-and-true overall. At least we avoided Asia, who were rather heavily lobbied-for on FB

Adam was quite fond of showing off his rosebud.

Squeeze, "Black Coffee in Bed", another frequent-flier, or at least it seems so to me.
Only twice on 10@10 proper, and once as a bonus track.
-
No new ground was broken today, but as half a dozen of the tracks are personal favorites,
I really enjoyed this show. Along with yesterday's 1972 set, this breaks what had been a
string of meh shows. BOS to Donald Fagen and his lyrical brilliance, and the musical
honey of Roxy Music -- thick, smooth, and sweet.
