Good lord, we've had requests for "Layla" and "Bang a Gong".
-
Flash - Monday Morning Eyes
(And if that did get played, I should buy a lottery ticket.)

it would be a "small beginning". ;)
-
TOTHK: Johnny Rivers gots da flu.
-
'72 World Series in Oakland --> Nilsson, "Let the Good Times Roll". A '50s-covers twin-spin! And this may be a bustout, so BOS1.
ETA: not a bustout (AL's played it a couple times).
-
BOS2 Joe Tex, "I Gotcha". Good gawd!
-
some woman lampooning (?) women's ignorance about sports --> Bonnie Raitt, "Love Me Like a Man". BOS3.

I suspected we might have heard it before, but still a strong BOS candidate.
BOS2 Joe Tex.
-
No clue who the ditz talking about baseball was.
Very early Bonnie Raitt, Love Me Like a Man. Bustout or no, another rarity. BOS3.
-
rejoicing in snipeland: Stones, "Shake Your Hips" -- a nice rarity and BOS4FRA.
song five already and it's only 10:16.
-
All in the Family Gloria's wedding night --> "Jungle Fever". Heh. We've heard this one many times, can't really BOS it but I'm still fond of it.
-
Ha! from "Jungle Fever" to "Me & Mrs Jones". Nice. VHM.

A Morey fave, although it may have popped up a time or two in the ensuing years as well. Great song in any case.
-
One more BOS for Billy Paul, Me and Mrs. Jones. Always enjoyed this one.
A good percentage of soul in this set so far: Joe Tex, Chakachas, and this one. Nice.
-
Old Spice commercial (I think I may have gotten some for Xmas that year) --> L&M "Vahevalah". This is our loooong one to pad out the set. BOS5 just because.
-
Lucca Brazzi sleeps with the fishes --> Todd "Hello It's Me" (which wouldn't actually become a hit single until late '73).
-

Just recalled a mondegreen that went with this one: "I heave a lot, I'm a sailor!"
Sure, another BOS, wtf.
-
the Paul Lynde Show -- they gave him a WIFE?? --> uber-LN "Go All the Way." I'd've preferred "I Wanna Be With You" for once.

Wasn't Go All The Way another song from the Awesome Mix Tape Vol. 1 in Guardians of the Galaxy?
Power pop BOS on general principals.
-
This was perfectly pleasant, yet somehow I wanted more based on the excellent requests posted on FB.

Movies really do breathe new life into a song: Go All the Way has been played many, many times, and I don't recall it getting any BOS consideration, but it won today.
-
Downloaded from SoundCloud and I will be listening shortly.
ETA: AL on FB said Raspberries BOS; Todd VHM.

Yeah, well, at nearly ten minutes that has an even more infinitesimal chance of being played.
Other prog rock suggestions would be Genesis (Watcher of the Skies) and Gentle Giant (River).
There are also lots of possible bust-outs from the 1972 releases by three little-known local
bands: New Riders of the Purple Sage, Jefferson Airplane, and the Grateful Dead.

It certainly could have rawked a bit more, but I was surprised and pleased by the bust-outs
by Bonnie Raitt and Billy Paul. (The Rolling Stones was a third bust-out.) Although the Raspberries
track is in the 20+ club and LN, everything else hasn't been overplayed. For me it's the best set
out of the last few shows.
