Could AL do a pop cheeze set since she didn't take requests? :o :D
ETA: A quick search doesn't come up with "Conga"...

Indeed, a fantastic way to lead off a set.

-
Next up: Peter Gabriel "Big Time"

and she follows with a "Big Time" LN1 from PG.

wow: BOS3 BJ, "Matter of Trust"
His commercial instincts in fine form with this Springsteen-ish sound at the peak of the latter's popularity.
-
Pretty In Pink ---> The Psychedelic Furs "Pretty In Pink"

sorry, the sndtk remake of "Pretty in Pink" is not as good as the orig.

Hadn't thought of that, but that does make some sense. To Joel's credit he realizes that he can't outscream Bruce.
-
More Pretty In Pink ---> Suzanne Vega with Joe Jackson "Left Of Center"
-
more P in P --> Suzanne Vega feat JJ "Left of Center". VHM.
-
Ted Koppel with the Marcoses --> "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes". Segue of the day so far. VHM.

More Koppel/Marcos banter ---> Grace Jones "I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango)"

more Koppel/Marcos --> Grace Jones, "Libertango" (!) BOS4. Another bustout, methinks.
-
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home ---> Steve Winwood "Back In The High Life Again"

Surprised that Miller hasn't put this song in the music and advertising connections category.
-
Cheers Frasier listening to rock & roll on the radio ---> Wang Chung "Everybody Have Fun Tonight"
-
Oy: "Everybody Wang Chung Tonite", after the famous Cheers clip. LN2.
But overall, this has been quite enjoyable. 2 bustouts is nothing to sneeze at. (and the BJ has only appeared once before)
-
and we close with "Danke Schoen" from Ferris Bueller and "Peter Gunn"
-
Ferris Bueller's Day Off featuring Wayne Newton's "Danke Schoen" into Art Of Noise/Duane Eddy "Peter Gunn" to close out the set
-
Even with a couple of LNs, this has turned out quite well (and if you're going to have LNs, they may as well be upbeat efforts such as "Big Time" and "Everybody Have Fun Tonight"). Best 86 set in some time.
-
FYI, "Libertango" is orig from '81 but it was on the Raw Deal sndtk in '86. I'm usually against that sorta thing, but it was a bustout and a delight to hear, so special dispensation today.

kind of amazing that Dave never played her. AL has played "Pull Up To The Bumper" a couple times.
