miraculously we avoid Outside Lands (tho' I suspect KFOG is not a major sponsor this year).
-
Hopefully AL's set is better than what The Peak/Rob Arrow (http://10at10club.com/forum/index.php?topic=10258.msg177997#msg177997) had today.

yeah, that was uncharacteristically LN-heavy for a Peak set. It was like something DC would force on AL.
-
RR says she'll be at Outside Lands tomorrow, FYI.
-
St Paul & the Broken Bones: Alabama Shakes with a (white) guy singing lead instead of a (black) woman.

BOS3 the mighty Zep. Sounds like FP is getting his "rockin set" request.
-
Funny, I was halfway expecting this to be a 1974 set, being that today is the 40th anniversary of Nixon's resignation. But since we went there last week, I guess that'd be a bit much to expect. Close enough, I guess.
BOS3 The Song Remains the Same.

I've BOSed this already; it shall not be topped.

I'd love to see it happen, but yeah, this is a pretty strong BOS candidate.

I'd've bet we'd heard this Timmy Thomas recently, but apparently not. BOS4.
-
War in the Middle East --->
Forty years on, and the Israelis are still bombing their neighbors in the Middle East. Sigh.
The segue into Why Can't We Live Together is particularly poignant.

It wasn't as one-sided then.

-
more BOS from George Harrison "Give Me Love"
-
first LN (to my ears anyway): George. I'd *love" to hear "Don't Let Me wait Too Long" or really anything else from this LP besides the hit.

I wonder if AL is affected by the ISIL/ISIS news. These songs strung together seem very pleading.

Free "Wishing Well"

I'd say yes about war now, in general.
-
Free "Wishing Well"
a possible bustout -- a welcome rarity certainly. One year before BadCo, and you'd be hard pressed to tell the diff. BOS5.

Jesus Freaks in the UK --> "If You Wanna Get to Heaven". Heh. VHM.
-
Still no Watergate clips, surprisingly. However this Jesus movement clip into If You Wanna Get to Heaven is another brilliant combo. She's still got it.
-
BOS6 Bruce in his Deuce. Rejoicing in snipeland.
-
Hey, it's Bruce doing that Manfred Mann song!
-
Bruce Springsteen's original "Blinded By The Light"

If I'm stretching everything to fit the theme of religious extremism, being "Blinded by the light" is an apt metaphor for fundamentalists.

Even giving AL credit for everything that went before, I think you may be stretching, yes.

Intentional or no, this has been a very damn enjoyable set, working on several levels in the best 10@10 tradition. Kudos to AL.

And we end with a nod to one of her fave genres, the British glam movement. Well bowled. And one more BOS in a set that's had no shortage of worthy candidates.

It'd take a miracle, like turning water to Elderberry Wine to bring peace to that part of the globe.

this was quite entertaining indeed.

Turns out AL played it once before, 3 years ago. A fine rarity nonetheless.

I was thinking she'd work in something to do with Fleetwood Mac and the Children of God, but that happened in 1971.

Go figure, this and the Y2K set got to 4 pages of posts... :)

This may be my last live listening of the Summer. I report for a reindoctrination retreat on Monday, work on Wednesday, and students (what I call "Live Ammo") on Thursday.
