I wonder if AL will play any of my request this time around...
Here's hoping!
I'm sure we'll hear something from Johnny Winter's (RIP) 1977 Nothin' But the Blues LP. So I'll forgo my "blues to make you snooze" comments out of respect for the departed. ;)
based on FB I guess we'll also hear Bill Murray's lounge-singer "Star Wars, nothing but Star Wars" bit.
-

Turns out there was more where that came from.

Star Wars commercial/trailer --> "Dark Star". Heh. VHM CSN.

I'll give "Dark Star" a BOS.
-
I'll give "Dark Star" a BOS.
only if it segues into Eyes of the World!
:)
-
Annie Hall ---> Todd Rundgren/Utopia "Love Is The Answer"
-
Annie Hall "lurve, loave, luff" --> Utopia "Love is the Answer". BOS1. Have we ever heard the ED&JFC cover of this on 10@10?
-
I'll give "Dark Star" a BOS.
only if it segues into Eyes of the World!
:)
Haha, Geoff, you old hippie!
Nice to hear Todd and company. It's been a while for this one.
-
Fleetwood Mac "Songbird"
-
VHM "Songbird"
-
BOS2 "Songbird" -- one of the Rumours tracks you never hear.

Agreed on the Utopia. Sounding good this morning. And I'm sure the people on the ground in the Ukraine would agree with the sentiment.
-
Don Pardo's "another great one" ---> Thin Lizzy "Dancing In The Moonlight"
-
Thin Lizzy, "Dancing in the Moonlight". VHM.
-
BOS2 "Songbird" -- one of the Rumours tracks you never hear.
Gets a BOS from me, for exactly that reason.
And one more for T'in Lizzy, Dancing In the Moonlight. On this long hot summer...morning.

WOS the disco Dead, "Dancing in the Streets". Utterly horrendous on so many levels.
-
Grateful Dead "Dancin' In The Streets"

I would've preferred it if she had played "Passenger" instead, but a cute segue I guess. I'll have to BOS this just to counterbalance whatever Mike is going to say!
BOS GD "Dancin' in the Streets"

BOS GD "Dancin' in the Streets"
I blame Keith Olsen (producer of Terrapin Station) for this. The version they used to do live was generally pretty rockin'. (And Geoff, I am right there with you on wishing for Passenger.)
-
More Annie Hall ---> Johnny Winter "Tired Of Tryin'"
R.I.P. Johnny

more Annie Hall --> here's yer Johnny Winter, I assume
-
More Annie Hall ---> Johnny Winter "Tired Of Tryin'"
R.I.P. Johnny
AL announced the year for this set yesterday afternoon, but the news about Johnny Winter's passing didn't break until late evening. Coincidence?
-
Star Wars ---> Iggy Pop "Lust For Life" LN at this point
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/archive/7/72/20130429203604!IggyPopLustForLife.jpg)
ETA: AL played a clip over the intro that I missed. Anyone catch it?

Phil Lesh admitted Passenger was based on Fleetwood Mac's "Station Man."

"The force is strong" --> uber-LN2 "Lust For Life"

well, he's "legal" in a lot of years.
-
I wonder how much money Iggy made from using this song in a commercial, compared to selling records.
-
"The force is strong" --> uber-LN2 "Lust For Life"
Great song, but it was under most people's radar until Trainspotting featured it, a mere 19 years later. And now it's advertising a cruise line -- what a wacky world we live in!

It was more from Annie Hall.
-
More Star Wars/Bill Murray SNL to close
-
Per AL on FB: BOS Johnny Winter; VHM Utopia

Dark Star -> That's It for the Other One
-
BOS2 "Songbird" -- one of the Rumours tracks you never hear.
Are we seeing the return of the snoozy rarity?
-
Sat Nite Fever "watch da hair!" --> "Stayin' Alive", which is uber-LN at this point.
Also uber-LN: just about any clip from Saturday Night Fever and Annie Hall.
-

Passenger would be an outstanding bust-out, but even Samson and Delilah would
have been a big improvement.
