It seems '83/'84 are the sweet spot; they seem to come up once a month like clockwork (whereas today's '75 was its first appearance in TWO months). The thread is up.
-
AL is on fire (big, big knife) with her video picks on FB.
-
TOTHK: Dire Straits "Twistin' By the Pool". VHM for goofiness factor.
-
Wow, AL is early today! TOTHK - Dire Straits "Twisting By The Pool"

-
Waiting for the set to start, I'm not sure which is worse: the numerous and inane Progressive ads featuring Flo and her thoroughly dumb jingles, or the KFOG.com promos that they've wheeled out in the last few days.
Ah, here we go: a nice summertime TOTHK: Twistin' By the Pool, Dire Straits. BOSFRA.
-
LN1: SRV. Inevitable, I guess.
-
I requested "I'll Tumble 4 Ya", so of course we get the overexposed "Karma Chameleon" instead.
-
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble "Love Struck Baby"

Valley Girl ---> Culture Club "Karma Chameleon"

"Don't change the Channel -- I'm on all of 'em!"

Marvin Gaye "Sexual Healing"
ETA: "Please don't procrastinate, it's not good to masturbate"
-
Marvin's "Sexual Healing" is almost an LN at this point. Almost. But i'm sure much swooning from Fogheads who've never heard of Kiss-FM is happening.
-
BOS2 Mr Palmer's fine cover of "You Are in my System"
-
I requested "I'll Tumble 4 Ya", so of course we get the overexposed "Karma Chameleon" instead.
I am surprised to discover that would be a bust-out -- and a most welcome one.
-
Videodrome / Debbie Harry ---> Robert Palmer "You Are In My System"

This features in a very funny scene in Chef, fwiw.

Pretty much anything other than "Karma", "Do You Really..." and "Time" would be bustout/rarity territory.
-
Another of those perfectly pleasant sets that, with a couple of substitutions, coulda been over-the-top stellar.
-
BOS2 Mr Palmer's fine cover of "You Are in my System"
Ah, the early '80s and the rise of the drum machine...
-
The Day After ---> Nena "99 Luftballoons"
Auf Deutsch -- ausgezeignet!
Anyone who can speak German will know that the original lyrics are actually quite different than the English, much more apocalyptic.

That neatly sums up how I feel about a lot of the '60s sets lately. While there appears to be an
effort to avoid frequent flyers, there also seems to be much more restraint in playing new material
than we saw with AL 1.0.

TANC: switched over to WLNG and they played "Miss Me Blind", another I've requested multiple times

A bit darker at the end, perhaps. Here's a good translation:
http://lyricstranslate.com/en/99-Luftballons-99-Luftballons.html
The site looks like an interesting resource, and brings to mind another theme for a 10@10 set:
foreign language songs that charted in the U.S. or done by well-known artists. So we have
Dominique, Komm Mir Deine Hand, La Bamba, 99 Luftballoons, etc.
