Title: 6 June 2014: it's... 1988
Post by: RGMike on June 05, 2014, 07:35:35 PM
Thread is up, not that we'll likely hear anything truly interesting in this year. (But I'm always happy to be wrong)

ETA: I have a hunch that "It Takes Two" (Rob Base/DJ E-Z-Rock) will be our token pop/R&B number.

That would be awesome. I pulled out the sad violins (about E-Z Rock's recent passing at 46) in making my request.

I love "Fisherman's Blues" but it's a waaaay-overplayed 10@10 staple, and was requested by a 'snipe who should know better. (as was "Anna Ng")

woulda been nice. I'll keep requesting it; you'd think it'd be right up AL's alley.  Be a killer TOTHK.

I'm sure alot of Fogheads thought this set was the bee's knees but it seemed pretty rote to me.  One bustout: CVB.

beep-boop-boop: TOTHK Escape Club, "Wild Wild uber-LN". Nowhere to go but up from here.

Yes, it is a Katrina. OTOH, I have no idea why the hate. It was different, clever, popular, and not AAA dreck.

just one of those songs I wasn't all that crazy about to begin with. (Despite one of my fave mondegreens, "Cher is on the airwaves") I'm always glad when AL plays a pop (non-AOR/AAA) hit but there are many songs she coulda played instead that wouldv'e been bustouts. I know, I know, these are the times we live in, accept the bitter with the sweet, etc.

I was this close to requesting their second hit, "Shake For The Sheik".

DJ E-Z Rock is definitely not a name. He was part of one of the best pop hip-hop singles ever, though.
