the thread, she is up.
-
early suggested LNs: Fogerty, REM, Power Station.
-
I'm probably going to miss the live broadcast, so take notes!
-
Reagan "Make My Day" --> TOTHK "Endicott", Kid Creole. VHM at very least for this DM fave.
-
Nancy Reagan's clout --> B.A.D. "Bottom Line" The horses on on the track. LN1 for me.
-
AL gives us (Murray) Head. You can't say "bang cock" on the radio!
-
Frank Zappa testifies on song lyrics -- > "Smooth Operator". I'd've preferred Sade's "Is It a Crime".
-
Falcon & the Snowman trailer --> (predictably) Bowie/Metheny. sha-la-la-la-la.
-
more PMRC banter --> Shreikback, "Nemesis". Closest to a BOS so far. Only chart hit to contain the word "parthenogenesis", I'll wager.
-
Oy: uber-LN Petty, "Don't Come Around Here". This is quite a Morey-on-autopilot kinda '85 set.

I see you are channeling Shray!
-
Eurythmics "I Love You Like A Ball And Chain"
-
Eurythmics
I'll give "Ball & Chain" a VHM for being somewhat rare.
-
The Cure "A Night Like This"
Okay, I'm outta here...
-
Chevy Chase (Fletch?) --> "A Night Like This", a Cure rarity. VHM.
Breakfast Club clip inserted into middle of song.
-
news report on Madonna --> the Lords of the New Church's cover of "Like A Virgin" -- isn't this the 2nd time AL's played this since her return?
I gotta say, IMHO this is one of the snooziest (non'90s) sets she's done since coming back.

Yup. And teasing Madonna then playing this joke cover seems very high school.
ETA: And she knew it too.

"...she's 85!"
And my, doesn't she look good for her age!

Glad I heard the Cure. Too bad I heard Tom P and that Madonna cover. I remember her playing it before and it was bad the first time. Some jokes don't age well.

AL on FB says there's a 2-way tie for BOS between The Cure and Sade.

Prediction for tomorrow: 1965

Prediction for tomorrow: 1965
someone on FB said they were promised a "NO SYNTHS set" for tomorrow; '60s would certainly fill the bill.

Saw that initial conversation and it figured in my calculation. '70 and '74 are also contenders, in that order.
