Dave Mason's unnecessary cover of "All Along the watchtower", followed by a proxy BOS for Gaz: Harry Chapin, "Cat's in the Cradle".

BOS  Supertramp "Bloody Well Right".

How many songs have opened with an electric piano solo that hold up as well as this one?

I always kinda dug Mason's version.  Even though it's not in my top 2 (Jimi, the original), but I think it edges out U2's version (pun intended).

At least Dave Mason played on the 'original' version by Hendrix.

Yeah, yeah, I hope you know what I mean by 'original!'

so did the writers of Animal House steal "I, (state your name)" from Brooks? Or had he, in turn, gotten it from someone else?

I was just digging around in IMDb to research that fact.  Can't find any reference to an earlier joke, and it's nearly impossible to believe Landis, Ramis, et al, never saw this before writing Animal House.

BOS #2, Tull "SAOTTIOAND"

WOS James & Carly, "Mockingbird", which I really disliked at the time.

VHM Eagles, "Already Gone", which Asylum thought would be huge.  But they had to wait another 6 months for the song that would really break them wide open, "Best Of My Love".

Just one more from Blazing Saddles (although one could go on all day with great lines from this):

[Bart returns unexpectedly after being sentenced to death]
Charlie: They said you was hung!
Bart: And they was right.

BOS Guess Who, "Star Baby", which I haven't heard in ages.  Has Dave ever played this one?
