Title: The Peak, 10/3/05: 1982
Post by: RGMike on October 03, 2005, 07:32:19 AM
Once again Rob goes where Dave's never been: he plays Elvis C's brilliant "Man Out of Time" from Imperial Bedroom.

AND: Ray Charles' Maxwell House commercial and what sounds like a Marshall Crenshaw song Dave's never played either.

Placing Ray Charles's ad next to Elvis Costello struck me as dangerously snarky, considering this was around the time of the pair's unfortunate interaction (IIRC).  I wonder if Rob intended it.

Did they actually "interact"? I thought Elvis made a racist remark about him in front of Bonnie Raiit and some of her band? I don't think Mr Charles was actually there.

I think you're right.  Further, I think it was Bonnie Bramlett who cold-clocked him in response.
