The thread is up and we already have a winner: "any song from Fleetwood Mac or the Eagles". Dude, srsly?
Also, someone requested "Year of the Cat" which we just heard a few weeks ago. *sigh*
-
TOTHK: Kinks, "Juke Box Music" -- VHM and perfectly acceptable non-rarity.
ETA: I had a friend who thought theu were singing "JEW Box Music". Jew eat?
-
TOTHK - Ronco Hit Explosion ----> The Kinks "Juke Box Music"

The Love Boat ---> ABBA "Dancing Queen"

-
Love Boat --> uber-uber-uber LN "Dancing Queen". Someone requested "Knowing Me/Knowing You" and we got this? Sheesh.

I never really get tired of this. It's because they sing "You can dance, you can jive." When Swedes jive, it's pretty awesome.
-
Three's Company ---> George Thorogood "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"

Three's Company --> Thorogood "Bourbon/Scotch/Beer"
ETA: I always forget how ENDLESS this song is.

Yeah, we've heard it a lot over the years, but it's one of those irresistible, earworm melodies that really deserves its acclaim. VHM.
Another VHM for Lonesome George, not confronting his landlord.
-
Three's Company ---> George Thorogood "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"
three's company >>
1. Bourbon
2. Scotch and
3. Beer
-
more Three's Co --> "Black Cow". VHM.
-
More Three's Company ---> Steely Dan "Black Cow"

Holy crap, Three's Company as incredibly lame. Was that Joyce DeWitt, sounding more girly than Suzanne Sommers?
barkeep, I'll order a Black Cow to wash that Thorogood taste away.

I thought a Black Cow was a bourbon milkshake?
-
Serious sledgehammer for me with Black Cow. I bought a new turntable in 78, and Aja was the first album I dropped the needle on, with Black Cow as the leadoff track. Yeah, more smooth jazz than rock and roll, but man does it sound good. BOS.
-
Even more Three's Company ---> KC & The Sunshine Band "Keep It Comin' Love"
-
Well, I'll BOS KC -- "Keep it Common Law"
-
BOS2 Townshend/Lane "My Baby Gives it Away"
-
Yet even more Three's Company (the Ropers) ---> Pete Townshend/Ronnie Lane "My Baby Gives It Away"
-
Well, I'll BOS KC -- "Keep it Common Law"
aw yeah, love this one. Saw KC&TSB a couple times, both at county fairs. He was pretty good. fun show!
BOS to Ronnie and Pete
-
Uber-LN2: Elvis, "Red Shoes". Only "Alison" woulda been more LN.
-
Three's Company ---> Elvis Costello "(The Angels Wanna Wear) My Red Shoes"
-
BOS2 Townshend/Lane "My Baby Gives it Away"
Another strong BOS contender for me too. This album was out of print for a number of years (and not that long after it came out). I remember being quite happy to find it back in print in the mid-80s.
-
water rationing --> Johnny "Guitar" Watson!! uber-BOS3 "A Real Mutha Fo' Ya"
-
Uber-LN2: Elvis, "Red Shoes". Only "Alison" woulda been more LN.
Gotta chime in... I still really enjoy this song, no matter how often it's played, for 2 reasons:
- Awesome song (IMHO)
- Reminds me of how awesome My Aim Is True was as a debut album
-
Water rationing ---> Johnny "Guitar" Watson "A Real Mother For Ya"

-
water rationing --> Johnny "Guitar" Watson!! uber-BOS3 "A Real Mutha Fo' Ya"
Now that's a BOS! At this point in the set, this is probably the only rarity we're going to get.
-
Carter's energy conservation --> "Time Loves a Hero" BOS4.
-
Energy crisis ---> Little Feat "Time Loves A Hero"
-
Three's way too much Company --> some blooze you can snooze.
-
Three's Company ---> Muddy Waters "Mannish Boy"
-
What a way to go out. Muddy w/ Johnny Winter, Mannish Boy, from Hard Again.
-
Three's way too much Company --> some blooze you can snooze.
Johnny Winter produced this record for Muddy Waters. NOT Snoozy!

it's all monotonous blooze to me. And this set was OK but (again) seeing a thread full of great suggestions that get bypassed in favor of FFs is the downside to having AL back. A crappy set from RR wasn't disappointing because it was business as usual.

Johnny Winter JINX!!

LOL - Bonus track David Soul "Don't Give Up On Us"

Gotta luv the AL backsell...

Good analysis. We know she has stellar taste, but the great unwashed can't handle anything too weird, man. Thanks corporate radio bloodsucking evil overlords!
Haha, she made funny on Muddy's "five minutes' time" brag.

hehe hehe.. I know what RGMike means about monotonous blues. I often get that, too. But not on this track.

I'm just channelling my inner Gazoo -- I miss him here, and he's no longer on FB either.
While we're speaking of absent cohorts, it occurred to me that Dischead has been missing for going on a couple of weeks now, I think. Hopefully just a brief hiatus.
And Mike, should you (or anyone) hear anything about Joe, please let me know. I know he hasn't been around this board for quite awhile, but the last few things I saw from him on FB, he seemed pretty down on life, even for him. I'm a bit concerned, too.

He's fine, he says. Just decided he'd had enuf of FB. We're supposed to have dinner this month.

AL on FB sez Muddy Waters got BOS.

I've just experienced a major, across-the-board disruption in my living situation. While the actual
Internet "blackout" only lasted a couple of days, all my routines are discombobulated. I hope to
resume my trenchant and scintillating posts shortly.

I had to look up trenchant: vigorous or incisive in expression or style.
