Title: 10 March 2014: AL is back to... 1971!

Her clue in FB: year of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. And she's taking requests!

And already I remember how annoying those request threads could be. "A show about 1971 would not be complete without 'Imagine' " said someone without much, um, imagination.

Are you going to be making any of those requests? What about Dischead?

 :)

Nah, I won't be making any requests, at least not this time around. [Just did a '71 set last week!]

Ha! And SRW's response to my similar comment on the Snipes page:

Nothing wrong with people liking or requesting Imagine or Maggie May..

I guess it's somewhat comforting that some things don't change!

Looks like I'll be missing the beginning of today's set, so take copious notes!

I'll try and tune in for the back end and BOS tallying, hopefully...

I'm pretty sure it's happened in theme sets, and I've seen it occur on other 10@10s. But it probably has been a good long while  since it's happened within a year set. Dischead I'm sure can answer.

she copped to the fact it was a mistake in the backannounce (which is what I figured anyway). First-day jitters.  Or maybe she was just making Renee's listeners feel at home  ;)

I missed it -- was having browser issues so I had to close everything down & of course that was right when she announced it. But perhaps she'll revive the tradition of putting that in the posted setlist, along with some of the other conventions that went by the wayside under RR's regime.

I was thinking the same.  "In honor of Renée, I'll be playing 10 great songs from several great years."  hey-o!

I cannot.  It's not the kind of thing I can readily tease out of my files without writing a little ad hoc
program, and circumstances do not permit that kind of diversion at the moment.  I can't remember
it ever happening, apart from Annalisa's "double plays" in her early '60s sets.  There of course it
was intentional.

More frequently we have had one track from a group and another from a solo release in the same
year by a member of that group.  Finding those would require cross-referencing against a
database of all the members of every group.  Similarly for songs written by one artist and covered
by another.

In contrast with the other 10@10 hosts, Annalisa has typically not announced the BOS winner(s)
after the first commercial break, apparently leaving the voting open a bit longer.  I listened for a
while after the set but did not hear it mentioned.

Is her old e-mail address back in service?  I would encourage anyone who participates in the FB
thread to ask that she resume the practice of marking the BOS winner(s) on the posted set lists.

What can I say about this elixer?!!?!

Several "wow" moments in a set with an extremely low LNQ.  And three -- count 'em -- three
wonderful "big name" bust-outs!  The tracks from the Stones, Pink Floyd, and surprisingly, Led
Zeppelin were all new comers to 10@10.  Most of the rest have only been played a handful of
times.  This is how it should be done, boys and girls.  An impressive and encouraging return
debut.  Today's set demonstrates the enormous potential of a strong year like 1971.

I Woke Up In Love This Morning - Partridge Family
Do you Know What I Mean - Lee Michaels
Moonlight Mile - Rolling Stones
Angel - Jimi Hendrix
Witch Of New Orleans - Redbone
Story In Your Eyes - The Moody Blues
Fearless - Pink Floyd
Respect Yourself - Staple Singers
Misty Mountain Hop - Led Zeppelin
Heavy Makes You Happy - Staple Singers

I am flabbergasted that "Moonlight Mile" was a bustout.

One of two excellent albums -- both as yet untapped for 10@10 -- released by that artist in 1971.
