We're hearing a lot of Yes lately on all three 10@10s.  (Sorry, but I find myself forgetting who exactly plays what anymore; it all blurs together.)

Songs that use chess metaphors:

Yes, "I've Seen All Good People"
Murray Head, "One Night in Bangkok"
Jefferson Starship, "Devil's Den"

I'm sure there are a ton more ...

Morning, all!

Dude! it's prog rock -- as if I didn't OD on it last nite

Mr Plant was fab, the sound a bit tinny (or maybe it's my aging ears). Highlight for me: "That's the Way", but then I've always had a jones for LZ3.

Gaz! it's Dave Edmunds!

I'm not going to do my usual anti-Dave Edmunds screed here; I'm just going to ask one simple question: What did he do with his voice in the production?  Is it just cranking the treble a la CCR's "Suzie Q" and the Monkees' "Tapioca Tundra"?  Or more complex than that?

The whipping of Mr. Slave is perfectly in time with "Knocking"'s beat, which makes both infinitely more entertaining.

Proxy Mshray BOS to Badfinger's "Day After Day."  IIRC, this is an Urth fave as well.  (I'm far more partial to "Baby Blue," myself.)

VHM Badfinger, which Bob played the other day in a fab set that Dave will have to work hard to beat.

BOS1: Badfinger! Been in a major BF mode of late, courtesy of the 3 albums of theirs in my iTunes library (No Dice, Straight Up, Magic Christian Music). They were a lot more talented than they get credit for.

No, not just you (or your ears). I think it's that room--makes the higher end stand out. And I'm with ya on Zep3--between that and Gallows Pole I was a happy camper last night (or maybe it was the beer...)

Shootin dope! Losin' hope!

Damn, I was hoping that cloudburst signalled "In the Rain" by the Dramatics, and not "Riders on the Storm"...

Has anyone ever heard the Snoop Dogg "cover" of "Riders on the Storm"?
