Wed 6/29/05: a "classic" SF set

They're making a big deal on the Morning Show about today being San Francisco's "birthday" -- something I've never heard mentioned before in 14 years of living here.  Wheter this translates into a 10@10 theme set remains to be seen.

Damn, I wish they'd solicited submissions for this.  I'd love to tell the tale of how I came to arrive in SF in September 1996 -- the story would close with Steve Winwood's "While You See a Chance," which summarized the whole odyssey for me nicely.

I'll have to cut out of the set early: I'm interviewing media critic Robert McChesney at 1:45 and need to prepare my notes and recording equipment.

It means Scott MacKenzie and/or Fever Tree... and the Village People. I'd prefer The Pet Shop Boys' cover of "Go West", tho'.

Well, if there is Syl, it can't be "Mighty Real" which we got Friday and "Disco Heat" which was yesterday.

so it turns out to be a rerun.  whatever, Dave. Not that SF songs aren't always wonderful, mind you.  But the buildup made it sound like this was newly inspired.

Is it? I didn't hear the morning show discussion, but I got the impression that the concept was used for a KFOG variety set a few years back, but the set itself was original.

In fairness, the stories from Fogheads are pretty neat.  On the other hand, we heard this Chris Isaak at 6:10 this morning...

Eeew, another rough seque out of the Chris Isaak tune. Dave must have not gotten his tape cued up in time.

I came here because I got engaged to a girl who lived here and she didn't want to move to Sacramento (where I was), and I was ready for a change of scenery. And we lived happily ever after.

My Dad took a job in Fremont back in '77. We lived there for a few years- then Fair Oaks (new job)- then back to Fremont a few years after that.

I went to SF State after high school. Decided to live here. I may move someday. Maybe. But, I like it here.

Aaaaack! "sausalito 'trina nite".

I had been here a number of times on vacay, and always thought it'd be great to live here. When my job at ABC disappeared in 1989 (accompanied by a very nice buyout package), I decided to make the move while I was still young enough to enjoy it.
