My wish list
Disco is a must.

Dance Disco Heat
Night Fever
Get Off
Lets all Chant
Flashlight
You and I

We had '78 last Monday (10/16) so I doubt it's up again today. But '76 is due.
-
And we're off! Again.
-
Strong start with ARS.
-
Guess Alicat heard right. But the same year twice in 10 days--that's wacked.

well, damn -- Ali was right. But we really were just there 10 days ago.

Well that settles it -- Dave's definitely being told to beef up the '70s sets. Either that or early Alzheimers

Let's Tie One On!

Check out Guitar George. He knows all the chords.

Sounded like a long version, with some extra-funky bass near the end, and a "Thank you, ma'am" to close it out.
-
woo hooo Mr. Knopfler.
Always a winner.
-
Check out Guitar George. He knows all the chords.
I have a dumb question: Why do so many songs refer to "London Town" rather than just "London"? Is there a distinction? Is it like saying "New York City" instead of "New York"?
Ignorantly,
Gaz.

well, yes. I believe London Town is the section of London that is the core of the city, dating back to when it was founded.

Not that I have any reason, I predict there's gonna be a Mick Jagger / Peter Tosh collaboration. 1978 makes me think of that tape I have in my car.

Pretty fly for a bunch of white guys. Though I have to admit when I first heard "Jive Talking", I thought they were three black women.
-
i've never known the lyrics: "you can try to understand a new york (london) town can make a man?"

My brother and I had a couple of the KISS dolls in '78. We foolishly threw them out in '80 or so. Fast Fwd to '99, I'm shopping for them on eBay as a surprise present for my brother. Almost spent $200 (!) on a Paul Stanley doll, then thought better of it, and never visited eBay again.

you must've been VERY young in 1975.
Y'all need to hear Chaka's cover of "Jive Talkin". Or Candi Staton's "Nights on B'way".

-
Don Pardo didn't say it was the looooong version, but does Dave ever play the short version of "Love Is Like Oxygen"?

Well, I wasn't the oldest fellow (11). But listen to it again (if you can). It's not hard to imagine. Outside of Lou Christie and Franki Valli, men just weren't singing like that in 75.

Not a bad set, just not very adventurous, imo.
-
Guilty Displeasure of Set: I often find Mr. Zevon's songs kind of overrated, including this one.
-

Your point is well taken with the rockist second half.

Is this Ms. Linda singing backup on Magnet & Steel too? Sounds like it could be.
I've been listening to a bunch of Springsteen 78 live stuff lately, so hearing Badlands was rather welcome here, too.
