'67! Saving the best for last, indeed.

and wrong year or no, the Producers montage may be the highlight of the month.

"Let it all Hang Out" you Hombres!

I've said this before: this record sounds like Roger Miller channeling Dylan.

I can't tell you how many years my circle of friend's tried to figure out that line.  I think it's spelled 'squonk' since I eventually bought a Steely
Dan songbook, although you can't trust these guys anyhoo!  Did it ever get explained?

interestingly, there's a Genesis connection ("Squonk" is a song on Trick of the Tail). But a squonk is a mythical creature:

It's pretty irritating to me.

indeed, "Genesis when they were good".  I generally like them in this period, but that weird sonic effect on his vocals is kinda annoying.

I've always preferred the Pete Townsend solo version of this song.

indeed. I can't recall if Dave's ever played it.

"So, Miss Hearst... we'd like to know where you got the notion... to rob the bank (don't rob the bank baby), rob the bank."

OK, so apparently set # 1 was Instrumentals...  they just separated the backannounce and/or played it twice.  Just heard '83 and now we're getting '90 :-(

But Dave says '74 and '67 are still to come.

Yep, '90 just concluded (the set I mostly missed this week) & so I hadn't heard Dave claim that a Foghead called in to say that he thought the early 90's were a 'musical wasteland, but this set is proving me wrong'.  This must have been a newbie listening to his first 1990 set, is the only thing I can think.

Psyched up for '74 & '67 coming last, hopefully Urth is up & at 'em!

That Foghead meant to say "Dave's early '90s sets are a musical wasteland"...

Looks like they started on time for once; I just missed the first set so I don't know what it was (hoping it was '90).

Now they just played the back-announce only for "Strictly Instrumental" WTF???

In Memoriam, Happy Birthday / RIP Jack Keller
« on: April 08, 2005, 08:18:28 PM »
Who's Jack Keller, you ask? Mr Keller, a songwriter, who died last week (4/1) at the age of 68, wrote "Your Auntie Grizelda" for the Monkees AND wrote the themes for Bewitched, Hazel and Gidget.

Now THAT'S immortality!
