BOS for verging-on-Katrina Blow Monkeys (or as Inspector Clousseau would say, "Blew Minkeys".)

Is this that Bowie song that, well, isn't Bowie?

And BTW, love your new avatar, Beej.  And Poc needs to get her CJZ back.

Yeah, the no promises song is the Bowie that's not Bowie I was talking about.

WOS: Jackson Browne, "Lives in the Balance."  Can an artist take himself any MORE seriously than this?  Also, the backing woodwinds sound like one of those cloned Nicaraguan four-pieces in the sherpas that infiltrate every corner of the Fisherman's Wharf area.

BOS - Steve Winwood, "Freedom Overspill."  The barely-noticed followup to "Higher Love," which barely grazed the Top 20 before "The Finer Things" and "Back in the High Life" returned him to the Top 10.

Title: Reagan was A LIAR
Post by: mshray on January 25, 2005, 10:38:59 AM
According to The Clothes Have No Emperor, Reagan gave that initial Iran/Contra denial on 11/13/86, and an LA Times poll showed that 79% didn't believe him.  So a second press conference is scheduled for 11/19.  Discussing this with the White House press corps a day earlier, Spokesman Larry (I got my job because of my Name) Speakes tells them:  "We can guess 99 out of 100 times the questions that you guys pose."

Sam Donaldson quips back, "Yeah, but you can never guess what he's gonna answer."

Later in his press conference Reagan says four times that Israel had no involvement.  But before taking questions he renegs and says, "there may be some misunderstanding of one of my answers tonight.  There was a third country involved in our secret project with Iran."  Oh really?  Then why'd you deny it FOUR TIMES!?

By the 25th Reagan appears in the briefing room to say that NSC Adviser John Poindexter resigned & Oliver North had been fired.  He then lets Edwin Meese explain the rest.  "Certain monies...have been made available to the forces...opposing the Sandinista government.  We don't know the exact amount yet.  The President knew nothing about it."

Later Reagan personally calls Ollie North & tells him, "This is going to make a great movie one day."

Yea but "Big Money" is all about the greediness and over-the-top glam (not to mention Big Hair) that symbolizes the 80s.

BTW-- is there a forum here where all the set's songs (and what got voted BOS) are displayed?  I haven't seen it...

I'll probably be on the NW side of town, or else close to the airport, but driving around is no big deal to me (keep in mind I currently commute 75 mi/RT each day here).  Email me at mark@chengmay.com with your contact info.

good idea.  I think I need a volunteer for that job.  Anyone who wants to can moderate a topic, which means minor pruning and janitorial work.

Volunteers?

good point -- the old forum had links at the top of the page to the KFOG 10@10 page and a vote-for-BOS link.

BTW, Rush had some pretty big hair, didn't they? Or maybe I'm confusing high hair with high voice (Geddy). Keep the dogs tied up when he sings!

Yeah, if we decide to stay here, or something like that, it can be customized up the wazoo.
